My first inkling was that perhaps the president wants Mr Edun to run for office, but then he doesn't appear to be the type to run for office. However we look at it, the framing of the announcement leaves much to be desired. Sincerely wish him well in his future endeavours.

When Taiwo Oyedele's nomination as the Minister of State for Finance was announced, I listened as @azuosumili analysed on radio that his appointment was prelude to taking over from Wale Edun as the substantive Minister of Finance and coordinating minister of the economy.

I did not believe as I thought Mr Edun was too close to Mr President and a member of his kitchen cabinet. They had come a long way from their days when the president was the then Lagos state governor, and the now outgone minister his finance commissioner.
