The most useful political statement I have ever read was this simple quote from Chairman Mao: "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun".

Everything else is just a series of fantasies and illusions that people sell themselves so they can sleep well at night. Whatever style of government you pretend to have, it is always underwritten by men with guns, and its stability always ultimately comes down to what the men with guns choose to do.

Your "democracy" is a children's fairy tale you tell yourself to make the world more palatable - it is men with guns that enforce and implement decisions, and it is men with guns that will escort you into a police car, a courtroom or a prison if you choose not to obey whatever instruction you have received.

Your "theocracy" is a lie because God has no power to make you do anything without the men with guns making you carry out his will. Mecca and Jerusalem are the 2 allegedly holiest in the world, and they're both filled with men with guns, purportedly carrying out the will of God.

Every type of human society is held together by men with guns. A good society is one where the interests of the men with guns align with those of the people without guns, and a bad society is one where the men with guns live parasitically off the people without guns.

ALL societies are dictatorships of men who control the guns. Some just include a whole lot of extra steps to obfuscate that basic fact. I personally prefer the societies where the men with the guns do not hide their control and their interests align with those who do not have guns.

Growing up is realising that "democracy" is like Santa Claus. It's a story told for 5 year-olds to feel involved in the world's decision making. You didn't put Tinubu, Trump or Macron in power with your "vote" you fucking peasant.

Yesterday I was coming back from the gym, I was by the road waiting to board a keke napep, and beside me was a guy standing.

Two other boys came and begged him for money. He didn't give them anything, and they left.

When we finally got a keke napep, coincidentally, we were going to the same bus stop.

When we got there, I gave the keke napep rider ₦200 and was about to leave, then I noticed the guy had already paid for me. He told me to take my ₦200 back.

I turned, collected my money, said thank you, smiled, and walked away.

While I was trekking home, it dawned on me that I didn't need him to pay for my transport. Why did he?

It was obvious I could afford it comfortably, so why did he choose to pay for me?

And I remembered that he had refused to give the other beggars anything, yet he ended up paying ₦200 for me.

I am sure had he given that ₦200 to them, they would have been far more grateful, because it would have meant so much to them.

Me, who already had more, yet he gave me more.

This is not an emotional post but something you should reflect on. It didn't start today, it has been an old principle.

The Bible says in Matthew 25:29, "For everyone who has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them."

Have you noticed that your rich uncle keeps getting more gifts and blessings from people, even though he seems not to need them?

But look at you, nobody cares to give you anything, because you have nothing.

Here is the simple gist, push to have something. If you are starting out, nobody might help you, nobody might care about you, but the moment you hit a certain level, people will rush to even offer you help.

It is not hypocritical, it is just a natural law. People prefer to pour into a river than to pour into an empty cup.

This is exactly why your friend will prefer to share a celebrity's post than to share yours.

They prefer to comment under a celebrity that won't even notice them, than to drop a nice comment on your post.

So push, nobody is coming to help you.

At the initial stage, you have to do almost everything by yourself, until you have more, and more will be given to you.

It is just a simple principle.

Our house help asked for a ₦10,000 salary increase.

We said no immediately.

Her request: ₦70,000 → ₦80,000 per month.

Our decision: Let her leave and save the extra ₦10,000.

She resigned.

Two weeks later, after struggling to do all the cooking, cleaning and laundry ourselves, we hired someone else.

The reality:

• New house help’s salary: ₦90,000/month.

• The irony: We ended up paying ₦10,000 more for someone who had to learn everything from scratch.

We refused to pay ₦80,000 to keep someone who already knew our home, our routines and our preferences…

But happily agreed to pay ₦90,000 to a complete stranger.

Doesn’t make much sense, does it?

Yet this is exactly how many companies treat loyal employees.

They reject a reasonable raise, lose experienced staff, then spend even more recruiting and training a replacement.

Loyalty rarely gets rewarded.

Sometimes, the fastest way to earn more isn’t to work harder…

It’s to change employers.

I will be running another experiment.

The top 40 students in Enugu from the last Olympiad will engage in a 3-week bootcamp to learn some critical skills with precision.

They will learn how to build drones from the ground up, auto mechanics, precision welding, electrical work, and basic programming.

Some experts will fly into Enugu for the period to train them on these skills. It will run from August 10 to August 30.

If this works as planned, then it will give us stronger validation for the skill development program we are currently designing.

Don’t be tired of my experiments. Whatever works, we scale quickly.

One Bible character I have never regarded is Samson. I see that guy as the dumbest character in the Bible. In fact, he was only strong as a compensation for his dullness.

Delilah pestered him the first time to show her the weakness of his powers, he told her that if he was bound by 7 green withs, he would be powerless. This woman did the exact thing, called the philistines on him but because that wasn’t his weakness, he won. How blind was he that he didn’t get she was out there to kill him?

The next time, he told her he will be weak if they bind him with new ropes and she did it again with the Philistines who were to kill him on ground. He saw those philistines, he killed them, yet, nothing pricked him that she was actually setting him up to die.

Another time, he told her to weave his hair with web and he would be weak. She did it again and tried to kill him. Yet, Samson didn’t see through all these till he revealed his true weakness to her.

I pray for you today, may you not be like Samson or have sons like Samson because that guy is a pure apoda.

🚨 N962.83 Billion for SUVs and Empowerment Projects Exceeds the Combined Budget of Seven Key Federal Ministries in the 2026 Budget

Our review of the 2026 FG Budget uncovered another troubling pattern of opaque spending.

🚙 39 SUVs - N15.13 bn
👥 2,579 Empowerment Projects - N947.7 bn
Total: N962.83 bn

This is more than the combined N960.27bn allocation to seven key Federal Ministries:

🏭 Industry, Trade & Investment - N156.8bn
🏘️ Housing - N145.3bn
👩 Women Affairs - N169.39bn
⚖️ Justice - N150.7bn
🐄 Livestock Development - N177.6bn
✈️ Aviation & Aerospace Development - N87.3bn
🪔 Petroleum Resources - N73.1bn

Yet, only 70 of the 2,579 empowerment projects have clearly identified implementation locations.
This raises serious accountability concerns:
📍 How can citizens track projects with no stated location?
🔍 How can oversight institutions verify implementation?
💰 How can taxpayers know who ultimately benefits from these allocations?

The concerns don't end there, these projects are spread across 184 implementing agencies, many of which have no statutory mandate to execute empowerment programmes. Leading agencies 👇

Let us be clear, there is nothing inherently wrong with empowerment programmes! When well-designed and transparently implemented, they can improve livelihoods, create economic opportunities, and support vulnerable Nigerians.

However, experience over the years has shown that many poorly defined empowerment projects have become vehicles for political patronage, rewarding loyalists rather than delivering broad-based benefits to citizens. When projects have no clear location, no transparent beneficiary selection process, and are assigned to agencies without the appropriate mandate, public confidence is eroded, and accountability becomes difficult.

This concern is even more pressing given that the 2026 Budget is projected to be financed with a deficit of about 46%. At a time when government is borrowing heavily to fund public expenditure, every naira should be directed toward investments with clear development outcomes, measurable impact, and value for money, not opaque allocations that citizens cannot effectively track.

A budget should not only allocate resources, it should also inspire public confidence. Every budget item should have a clear purpose, a defined location, an implementing agency with the legal mandate to deliver it, identifiable beneficiaries, and measurable outcomes.

In 1981, members of Nigeria's National Assembly owed the Nigerian External Telecommunications (NET) more than ₦240,000 in telephone bills accumulated within just nine months, but refused to pay the money themselves.

Responding to the controversy, Deputy Speaker Idris Ibrahim argued that the debt was insignificant and should be settled by the National Assembly.

He told New Nigerian that it did not matter even if some of the calls had been made by lawmakers' friends and relatives because there was no practical way to distinguish official calls from private ones.

He added, "Nigerians are sadists. They envy our position and style of living as legislators. This is part of the fringe benefits that go along with our job, so those who are dissatisfied should contest elections and become politicians too."
