Today's 82nd anniversary of D-Day comes with the unveiling of a new national tribute to those who changed the course of World War II.
The National Memorial of Military Ascent (NMMA) is a tribute to the U.S. Army Rangers who scaled the 100-foot cliffs of Pointe du Hoc during the D-Day invasion of Normandy in World War II. Located in Grafton, Illinois, the memorial utilizes the steep limestone bluffs along the Mississippi River to visually recreate this historic 1944 climb.

Did you know that the first women to land on the Normandy beachhead in June 1944 were nurses of Queen Alexandraโs Imperial Nursing Service?
Their task was to establish a field hospital for 600 wounded soldiers.
They succeeded.
Please remember these heroines who saved lives:
NEVER FORGET JUNE 6 1944...

Eighty-two years ago, Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy and began the liberation of Europe from Nazi tyranny. We honor the courage and sacrifice of the heroes of D-Day and the Greatest Generation who changed the course of history.
โInto the jaws of death.โ
This is what our boys faced 82 years ago on the beaches of Normandy France.
For thousands of them, this would be their last day on earth.
They would never marry and raise a family.
Their legacy is our Freedom.
๐ช82 Years Ago -6/6/1944๐ช
On the blood-soaked beaches of Normandy, American heroes from the Greatest Generation stormed into hell itself. They didnโt fight for glory. They fought for freedom. They fought so tyranny would never cross the Atlantic.
Omaha, Utah, Gold, Juno, Sword -names forever etched in the heart of every patriot. Over 156,000 Allied troops. Thousands gave their last full measure before their boots even hit the sand.
Because of their courage, the long night of Nazi occupation began to crack. Because of their sacrifice, liberty lived.
We owe them everything.
Never forget. Never surrender. Never apologize for being American.
