Someone driving an SUV hit 7 cyclists out on a morning ride near Delray Beach, FL yesterday. News reports indicate that one rider has died and at least two others are in critical condition.

For US riders, this sort of incident is like school shootings. Mind-numblingly common.

@Snial @RichardWellings Where’s the restriction? All a 15 minute city means is everything you need is within 15 minutes of where you live. What’s restricting about that? Why drive 45 minutes to the retail outlet if you can walk or cycle or take a cab (cheaper than running a car) to get your shopping etc

1 Driver improvement course
2 Advisory Letter
3 NIP or DIC or warning letter but not which.
2 different officers reviewed the videos. In 3 said Data Protection Act prevented from saying anything else 🤷‍♂️

@pwb @apascoe33 @MikeyCycling Bit like number plates for cyclists. At what age? 3 on a balance bike? 12 cycling to school? Most cyclists won’t break many speed limits unlike drivers. 20 is possible, 30 downhill also possible. If you can average 30+ on the flat, you’ll be signed up by a pro team. I won’t 🤣

@engagemybrain_ @MPSSpecials High power front light, yellow jersey. Still didn’t see me. Fortunately the cars in the other lane were stopped. You can have all the hi-viz in the world but if the person behind the wheel doesn’t bother to look, then this is what happens.

@QuinlanQuinlan @magnatom @sculldoggydog No I’ll engage. Even though English doesn’t seem to be your first language. Every cyclist involved in the death of a pedestrian has been traced. Even with number plates, not every driver involved in a hit & run is found. Does that simplify it for you?
