Every POD holds multiple βRealmsβ and these βRealmsβ are what make an SFCC implementation.
Next time you visit https://t.co/AcwHBUWyyI or https://t.co/ZIavmH2qSW just think; you are inside a realm of an SFCC impl and on Production instance of that realm to be precise.
To understand SFCC - Salesforce B2C Commerce Cloud & its architecture to the full extent; it is important to understand a few concepts first.
π§΅π
π΄In those Data centers, there are PODs(point of delivery) that have all the tools and equipment one would need to create a modern-day web application. From Firewall, network switches, load balancers, application & DB servers, etc all are present.
π΄Most IMP::
Going ahead, think of SFCC as a SaaS, a service that lives on physical servers maintained by Salesforce in their data centers available globally.
Netflix, Spotify would fall in the category of more ready-to-use and finished products.
SFCC is considered as an environment; you get a reference application (Site genesis) you can build upon. Brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc choose to use this playground and build on it.
π΄SaaS - Software as a Service
The company builds software and provides it on subscription-based model to its customers.
Now, these softwares could be ready-to-use products or just an environment for you to build upon quickly. Ex. SFCC, Netflix, Spotify, Adobe suite, etc.

π΄PaaS - Platform as a Service
An extension to IaaS & with the storage, networking infrastructure, etc from IaaS you are also provided with tools like Databases, Development tools, Business Intelligence tools, etc. to build your application.β¨
SFDC is the best example of a PaaS.
Apps are sophisticated and complex and need much more than a simple server.β¨Companies like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc provide such infrastructure as a service.β¨Businesses can just focus on building their applications and not worry about hardware and other gimmicks.(2/2)
There are 3 main areas of cloud/ cloud computing:
π΄IaaS - Infrastructure as a Serviceβ¨β¨
Every business wants/needs an online presence & your application needs to exist on a server.β¨A SMB might be able to able manage such a server on its own but in todayβs world;
(1/2)
With time, it was becoming seemingly impossible for businesses to manage such operations as technology grew at a rapid rate & things got deviated from static web pages to complex and sophisticated applications which we have today.
(3/3)
Cloud computing provides a way for businesses to build apps using services that are essentially managed by a different entity than their own.β¨
Earlier, such practice was uncommon and every company had its own IT team mainly due to customer records & other sensitive stuff
(2/3)
What is Cloud/Cloud computing?β¨β¨
Though it might sound very basic to the IT folks letβs consider the people outside the realm of IT. β¨β¨Cloud is just a network of servers placed globally to increase the accessibility of applications in a fast and streamlined manner

Fraud Detection, Address verification, secured payment info access, and following OWASP lists of security threats are a bare minimum to cover in your implementation.
SFCC is powered with such capabilities and the BM provides quick access to configure security settings
(2/2)
An E-Commerce site needs some basic building blocks like Product Catalogs, Pricebooks, Inventory lists, and Order management systems.
β¨β¨For a truly immersive & engaging experience u need more but to start the journey there are a few areas we can focus π§ββοΈπ§ on

In Todayβs time, it is equally important for businesses to secure the site as it is for customers to visit the right site. Bad actors can take your site down and a dirty incident can put a stain on the reputation of one business.
(1/2)
CS cases can give a good insight into the customer's pains and roadblocks that need immediate attention.
SFCC provides a good overview of all these from the Business Manager and everything is at your disposal.β¨However, Ratings & Reviews is a 3rd party integration
(3/3)
Reports & Dashboards provide a quick overview and help you in making decisions precisely and also informing you about the current trends.
Ratings & Reviews are an integral part of your arsenal and should be used judiciously to identify under & good-performing products.
(2/3)
Analytics help you identify your customer and give them the correct recommendations when they visit your site. You want to make the life of the customer easy and for that, a business must analyze the customerβs shopping trends, habits, and concerns.

There is a set of features that make the customer feel like a breeze on a πΆ face.β¨
Single Page/click checkout, option to choose from social logins, personalized recommendations, and an easy to browse UI can provide that!β¨
Donβt underestimate the power of these things!
