Thanks to Marek from
@Ag_Logic for speaking to the Tas Optimising Irrigated Grains discussion group about informed irrigation decisions. Great discussion about #irrigatedgrains in the Northern Midlands and how to optimise our irrigation strategies for our soils 💧
Tasmania wheat yields recorded as part of the @GRDC’s #hyperyieldingcrops project are the highest since the record-breaking season of 2016
when RGT Accroc yielded over 16t/ha (GRDC’s Hyper Yielding Cereals project (FAR00003)). https://t.co/eI094d7dXs
@far_australia Hyper Yielding Crops Field Day at the Tasmanian Crop Technology Centre a certifiable success. Rain held off just in time for the end of presentations. Well done to the team from FAR and thanks for all the hard work in putting it together! @darcydww2
Hyper yielding cereals field day underway. Now an Australian wide project. But Tas still has the edge for a magnificent trials site and yield potential @far_australia @SfsNaomi
Seeing is believing... come along to our Tasmania Crop Technology Centre to see how the @theGRDC's 2021 HYC trials are tracking - will we top last year's barley yield of 11.42 t/ha? Click on the link for more info.

Our replicated pot trials identified that tank-mixing Clethodim + Atrazine was antagonist vs. Clethodim alone or separating the mixes. The longer the separation the greater the control. We included 3 DIM-resistant and 1 susceptible ryegrass in the study. @WeedSmartAU
@kentonp_ag@far_australia@darcydww2 Looking forward to the commercialising of the waterlogging tolerant barley work done by @MeixueZ at @UTAS_ , years like this remind us we need it more than ever!
If you are a grain grower you should be listening to this.

Bringing the @WeedSmartAU Big 6 to Tassie! @SouthernFS & @theGRDC project on managing annual ryegrass resistance, so Tassie doesn’t follow the same resistance footsteps as it’s mainland friends.

Plant Science Consulting tested Clethodim plus Atrazine as a tank-mix vs Clethodim followed by Atrazine spray immediately after on susceptible and Dim-resistant ryegrass. Used Hasten and SOA. Significantly better activity on resistant ryegrass when NOT tank-mixed.

Something I have just learnt is that AgChem are tools in a toolbox, no one _wants_ to increase variable costs. Integrated management eases this pressure, but doesn't eliminate it. Could we feed the world organically? Doubtful. https://t.co/n2Z3aU6W6l via @temarkets @WheatWatcher
Canopy cover might give us some information about light interception, but canopy closure would give us more of an idea about light penetration, and be more relevant to things like fungicide applications. 3/4
