After a triple-major in CS, physics, and statistics, I know a fair bit about doing physics on a computer, and the statistical underpinnings of ML. From my perspective, this prize is a betrayal of everything that made the Nobel prize worth aspiring to.

I guess it's time to share this story ...
(Sometimes I wait cuz the pain is so deep in the moment)
This story begins with my 6yo being assaulted at school for wearing a mask.
This story ends with security being called on me at a school board meeting.

Under his leadership, Minnesota has codified abortion rights, legalized cannabis, required paid family leave, mandated universal background checks for firearms, banned noncompete agreements for workers, and introduced universal free meals for hungry schoolchildren.
@boris3324@docrocktex26 @kleptocracynow The “two-party system” has always been too close to a one-party system, and getting rid of the party that’s dangerously close to forcing out the other party still ends up with a one-party system, so there’ll be a lot more to do, but it’ll be much easier to get done that way
Trump: “Get out and vote just this time. You won't have to do it anymore. Four more years it will be fixed. It'll be fine. You won't have to vote anymore...In four years you don't have to vote again. We'll have it fixed so good your not gonna have to vote.”
“A certain group of people who are victimized by fairness, victimized by competition from the competent, who are upset because for so long they’ve gotten to be mediocre and rise.” - @mayawiley 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@RpsAgainstTrump What is Democratic about getting everybody to vote for your candidate, having them drop out after all primaries finish, and then picking somebody completely different without sending it back to vote? I thought they were trying to save democracy.
@kristine_kenyon@SarahLongwell25 After the trial run of legal challenges against the 2020 election results, it’ll be hard enough to win the court cases republicans will bring if the ticket doesn’t change, even harder if it does
@docrocktex26@memnosoncos It’s baffling that anyone thinks defeating Trump would be better accomplished by demeaning the only other viable candidate than by campaigning to convince voters of how bad Trump would be, or campaigning for Biden, or helping get out the vote, or touting Biden’s achievements, …
@ArarMaher And that’s precisely what has happened. A fundamental principle of the laws of war that has survived for centuries if not millenia lies buried in the rubble of Gaza’s hospitals. It no longer exists, and the horrific consequences will – already do – reverberate far beyond Gaza.
An incredible piece of journalism.

@GiantTigerKitty @docrocktex26@miscellany101 For as long and I’ve known of it I’ve been a supporter of the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact:

@atrupar@lessig If the goal is to prevent Trump from being elected, their attention should be on convincing voters of that, not on throwing out the primary results and picking a last minute replacement that wasn’t even on any primary ballots
Such an important point by @washingtonpost Philip Rucker on MSNBC: the appearance of unity at the RNC is because all the anti-MAGA elements have been purged. Do we forget why Trump needed a new VP? There’s no Mitt Romney. No Liz Cheney. No Michael Steele. Those reporting on the veneer of unity should be constantly noting this.
