After caring for this patient, washing her hair, and styling it into a ponytail braid, I played her favorite music collection. We did the same routine for my 3 shifts with her. On my last shift, I said my goodbye. It was hard because somehow I had gotten used to her non-verbal cues (while intubated), which she used to express her needs.
She held my hand with tears in her eyes and mumbled the two words- "Thank you." As she squeezed my hand, I told her she didn't have to struggle to mouth more words. I could feel her deep gratitude. These are the moments that remind me of why I still practice bedside nursing. For me, being able to care for people in their most vulnerable state is a blessing.
I love nursing.
This is just a friendly reminder that buying a book, reading it, and then returning it actually costs authors money. It’s not net zero. Stop using Amazon as a library and go to the real library.
These long Twitter posts from the blue ticks are so disruptive. Can't just scroll and read in peace. I would have to click and open to see the whole thing? And then with no formatting, just rambles from people who paid to be seen? Eh..........
As I pulled my resident aside after a tough day doing regional anesthesia, I asked the same first question I always ask when I have clinical competency concerns,
“How are things at home?”
Most of the time the answer is “fine.”
This time the answer was “I have cancer.”

Birdie’s adoption fee has been generously sponsored by one of her amazing new fans! Thank you all so much for continuing to share her, let’s get her the home she deserves!
3/3 Birdie is only a year old and has been so much already she looks like a grumpy old lady. She is good with other cats, a little shy at first but very loving and affectionate. Apply to adopt Birdie from our partner shelter, Cat Crusaders in Elkton, MD at https://t.co/RwhvBVJZQ8
2/3 She doesn’t have a history of litterbox trouble & was just nervous and confused about her new surroundings. Instead of giving her time to adjust and helping her out by reducing her initial space so she was less overwhelmed, they gave her back. She’s a good girl & so sweet.
Hey Cat Twitter, could you share this sweet girl? Her name is Birdie. She has been waiting so long for a home and been through SO much. She was adopted last night and returned this morning. She wasn’t sure where her new litterbox was and was scared so she had a poo on a rug 1/2
This 14th century door at Exeter Cathedral is thought to be the oldest existing cat flap.
A cat was paid a penny each week, to keep down the rats and mice in the north tower, and a cat flap was cut into the door below the clock to allow the cat to carry out its duties. #catfacts
@MGMasonBooks I have a question Mr. Human. It's a simple one! What makes these men think they are worthy of that type of treatment if they are unwilling to do the same for their partners? Should we direct them to a time machine?? Meow! 🐾
Ohio mother burned alive testifies at her own murder trial
Judy Malinowski, became the first person in history to testify at her own murder trial in 2018
She was covered in gasoline and set on fire. She recorded a video from her hospital bed that was played in court
“She hung on and fought for justice,” her mother says now. “She suffered beyond measure to make a change for other women.”

@JoeBiden Also, set a time limit for the compensation. My missus is still waiting for compensation from American Airlines for a series of flight cancellations in March. All she asked for was her Airbnb. Still nothing.
