Employers are NOT required to make up the difference.
How would they know if the employee didn't make enough tips to begin with? Honor system?

@RGile77 @akafaceUS US coins, metal, are minted (to stamp out of metal) at 1 of 4 US mints. Notes, paper, are printed at 1 of 12 Fed. Reserve Banks.

Also, to the best of my knowledge, none of the mints are located within any of the Federal Reserves. Philly maybe, but I don't think so.

The only things that come close to 'mint markings' are the FRB identifier letters and/or numbers in the serial number, the seal, if present and below the s/n.
