​At Mattu Pongal event, he claimed cow urine (gau mutra) has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits, citing a story where a sanyasi’s high fever vanished in 15 minutes. He also backed its use for IBS and noted he consumes Panchagavyam.
​He endorsed an unproven traditional claims without rigorous scientific backing.
​As the Director of IIT Madras, he is expected to champion evidence-based science. He has misused his official scientific position to promote personal beliefs and traditional anecdotes which dangerously blurs the line between faith and science.
He is not fit to be Director of IIT . A dispensation which believed in Scientific Temper would have sacked him by now .

In 2007, Sudhir Chaudhary aired a fake sting calling Delhi teacher Uma Khurana a sex racketeer. A mob stripped and beat her on the street. She was jailed, sacked from her job.

The sting was staged. The "student" was a hired reporter. Uma Khurana was completely innocent. Chaudhary escaped with just an apology.

In 2026, that same man heads DD News... India's state broadcaster... hosting a show called "Decode."

His style hasn't changed: pick a target, build outrage, let the mob do the rest. From Shaheen Bagh to Rhea Chakraborty to today's GenZ Protestors... same playbook, different decade.

One woman's life was destroyed for a TRP stunt. The man behind it now runs India's official news channel. Make of that what you will.
