PRAY FOR ALL MEN: INTERCEDING FOR YOUR ENEMIES

1 Timothy 2:1 (NKJV): "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men..."

As a believer, learning to pray for your enemies is a core requirement of the Christian walk. The emphasis of New Covenant intercession is never on praying against your enemies, but on praying for them. True intercession asks that God may bless them, teach them, heal the wounds in their hearts, and help them where they are secretly struggling.

Unfortunately, many believers still carry an Old Covenant mindset regarding how enemies should be treated. We see this in the account of Elijah, who called down fire from heaven to consume the soldiers sent to arrest him (2 Kings 1:9-18). It is the exact same attitude many bring into their prayer closets today: demanding that fire consume their opponents, praying that they be buried by struggles, or waiting eagerly for their downfall.

In the New Covenant, Jesus revealed a radically different perspective. While hanging on the cross, accused and executed for crimes He never committed, His response was, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do" (Luke 23:34). Stephen possessed this exact same heart in Acts 7. As heavy stones rained down to kill him, he fell to his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin."

This must become the posture of your heart. When faced with opposition, your desire should be that God’s mercy prevails, that your persecutors are spared from judgment, and that their hearts are transformed by His grace.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this divine instruction. If there be any bitterness against those who harmed me, I release it and them today. I choose to obey Your command to pray for those who mistreat or oppose me. I ask that Your mercy cover them, Your truth break through their hardness, and Your grace lead them to true repentance and salvation. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

KINGDOM FINANCE PRINCIPLES: A LESSON FROM THE STORY OF LAZARUS AND THE RICH MAN

Proverbs 22:2 (NKJV): "The rich and the poor have this in common: The Lord is the maker of them all."

More often than not, people measure worth by external success, looking down on those who are poorer, less educated, or of a lower social class. Some see money as a metric of human value. However, this is not the way of God.

The story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16 serves as a sobering warning regarding how we treat those who are less privileged or financially disadvantaged. In life, the rich man feasted sumptuously while ignoring Lazarus, a poor, sore-covered beggar who lay outside his gate.

But eternity radically flipped the script. When both died, the rich man found himself looking to Lazarus for relief. The Bible says that the rich man begged for Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water to cool his tongue.

Part of the moral of this story is that you should never scoff at anyone you consider less privileged; their condition does not make them less valuable in the sight of God.

Our theme scripture makes it abundantly clear: both the poor and the rich have equal dignity before the Almighty God. He is the Creator of them both, and He does not judge by wealth, title, or status. When we scoff at a poor person or treat someone of a lower class with contempt, we dishonour their Maker and misuse the very riches God entrusted to us.

Never despise the man who has less than you today; the person you overlook is no less valuable in the sight of God. Remember, circumstances can change. The one you look down on today may one day be in a position where you need their help. Therefore, let your financial resources be guided by honour, humility, and generous love for every soul, regardless of their status.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for this word. I receive it with humility and turn its torch inward. Remind me daily that every person is created in Your image and that both the rich and the poor are equal in Your sight. I treat with respect every individual regardless of status and steward wealth for Your glory. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

THE SACRED WEIGHT OF SOUL-WINNING

Proverbs 11:30 (NKJV): "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who wins souls is wise."

In the spiritual realm, the ultimate battlefield is, and always has been, the human soul. The core mission of the Church of Jesus Christ is clear: the salvation of souls. Nothing matters more to the heart of God than the redemption of man. He held nothing back, giving even His only begotten Son to ransom us from darkness.

In the same way, the devil understands the supreme value of a soul all too well. Satan is willing to sacrifice anything just to keep a single soul bound in eternal death. He even offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world in exchange for worship, seeking to turn Him away from the Father's purpose.

Because the battle for souls is so fierce, the enemy unleashes relentless warfare against anyone who actively labors in the harvest fields. Satan will stop at nothing to disrupt and discredit the work of a soul-winner. Tragic, however, is when believers themselves do his work for him by sitting in judgment, picking apart the methods, flaws, or personalities of ministers and evangelists who are on the front lines bringing people to Christ.

We must exercise extreme caution before criticizing those who are actively bringing people into the Kingdom of God. Before we point fingers or pass judgment on those gathering the harvest, we must examine our hearts. God does not call us to be spectators or critics in the pews; He calls us to be co-laborers in the field. When we truly grasp the value God places on a single soul, our sharp criticisms dissolve into fervent prayer, and our passivity transforms into a passion for the lost.

PRAYER: Loving and merciful Father, I thank You for this word. I repent for any time I have allowed my tongue to criticize those who are laboring to win souls for Your Kingdom. Where I have neglected this Kingdom mandate, forgive me and help me. Realign my priorities with Yours, Lord, and break my heart for the lost. Give me a burning passion to share the Gospel, and guard my spirit so that I support, encourage, and pray for those on the front lines of evangelism. In Jesus' powerful Name, Amen.

FAMILY SERIES: THE DUTY TO PRAY FOR YOUR FAMILY

1 Timothy 2:1 (NKJV): "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men."

When the Apostle Paul urges us to pray for "all people," the scope of that command begins far closer to home than many realize. While we may readily pray for our immediate household, our spouses, and children, many believers completely overlook their duty to intercede for their extended family. Somewhere along the line, a disconnect occurs, and we forget that our spiritual responsibility extends to the many who are part of our family.

Too often, our response to trouble in the extended family is purely natural rather than spiritual. When news arrives that a relative is battling a severe illness, the best many can offer is a brief expression of pity or sympathy. When a niece or nephew falls into drug addiction or alcohol abuse, the immediate reaction is often to critique the parents' methods or gossip about the family's decline.

It rarely occurs to us to fall to our knees in earnest intercession. We witness long-standing generational cycles: recurring divorces, chronic poverty, premature deaths, or obvious spiritual oppression, yet we remain oddly unconcerned, treating these patterns as mere bad luck or unavoidable family traits.

God did not place you in your family by accident; He positioned you there as a watchman. You have a sacred obligation to stand in the gap for your relatives. Pity will not break an addiction, and criticism will not stop negative cycles.

Only Spirit-led prayer can usher in God’s healing and redemption. It is time to wake up to your duty. Look beyond your immediate walls, take stock of the spiritual state of your entire family, and begin to stand in the gap for them.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for this Word. Today, I step into my responsibility as an intercessor for my family line. I pray for every relative struggling with disease, addiction, broken marriages, or financial hardship. I pray that You send labourers to those that must be saved and if no labourer is found, make me a worthy one. Open their hearts to the Gospel, and draw them by Your mercy. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

THE CORE DISPOSITIONS OF AN INTERCESSOR III

Matthew 9:36 (NKJV): "But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd."

In the previous devotions, we learnt that humility and empathy are core dispositions of an intercessor. The third defining disposition is compassion. Agape, the unconditional love of God, is the source of all true compassion; without it, our prayer lives easily succumb to cold duty or self-righteousness.

We see a striking example of compassion in the story of Job. While Job’s immense suffering forms the central narrative, God’s loving concern extends far beyond the main character. God cared deeply about the souls of Job’s friends Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar even after they offered flawed, painful, and accusatory counsel. Despite their hurtful words, God instructed Job to pray for them, making Job’s intercession the very doorway to God's mercy toward them and his own restoration.

Without genuine compassion, our own ego becomes vulnerable to injury. When people misjudge, criticize, or wound us, an unrefined ego reacts by attacking the very individuals God desires to redeem. Intercession demands that we rise above bruised feelings and personal offense.

When filled with God's compassion, we no longer see offenders as enemies to be defeated, but as broken souls to be brought before the throne of grace.

PRAYER: Loving Father, thank You for this wisdom. You teach me to walk in true compassion and never to attack or judge those You called me to love. When others misunderstand or hurt me, guard my spirit against offense. Through Your eyes, I see their need for redemption, and I pray earnestly for their restoration. In Jesus' Name, Amen.

THE CORE DISPOSITIONS OF AN INTERCESSOR II

Hebrews 4:15 (NKJV) "For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin."

In yesterday's devotional, we learnt that humility is one of the core dispositions of an intercessor. The second core disposition in the heart of an intercessor is empathy. Empathy is the sacred ability to step out of your own perspective and enter into another person's reality before you pass judgment on them.

It is easy to look at someone’s brokenness, rebellion, or mistakes from a distance and write them off. However, intercession calls us to a much higher standard: a place of compassionate identification rather than cold condemnation.

Consider a young man who comes across as insolent, aggressive, and rebellious. The world looks at him, sees his sharp edges, and quickly labels him a failure or a wasted life. But when empathy takes root in the heart of an intercessor, you stop looking merely at the outward behavior and begin to examine the hidden story behind it.

As you put yourself in his shoes, you may discover that he grew up without a father or a mother to guide him. He was never taught how to navigate life, and he may not understand what it truly means to be a man, a husband, or a father.

When you pause to consider his background, a vital question arises in your heart: Could I have been any better if I were raised under those same circumstances? That single realization shatters self-righteousness. It replaces pride with compassion and turns harsh judgment into earnest prayer.

Empathy allows us to see people not through the lens of who they are in their brokenness today, but through the lens of what God’s mercy can do in their lives tomorrow.

To be an effective intercessor, you must allow God to break your heart with the things that break His heart, feeling the weight of another's pain so that you can carry them to His throne.

PRAYER: Loving Father, I thank You for this Word. You have given me eyes that see people beyond their outward failures, hostility, or rebellion. You teach me never to be quick to judge, and how to walk in genuine empathy. Forgive me for the times I evaluated others without understanding their wounds or their story. You cultivate within me the compassion needed to feel the pain of the broken so I can intercede for them with love, truth, and grace. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
