The market ripped 3% in a single session. Headlines credited "peace talks" and "de-escalation."

What actually drove the move:

$30-35 billion in pension fund month-end rebalancing buying into the close. A major dealer short strike at 6475 expiring that afternoon. As spot approached, dealers got shorter gamma and had to buy delta. That forced buying accelerated the move right through the level.

The way I read it. News gave people a trigger. The positioning gave the market a mechanism.

Sure, the headlines matter, but do you think the squeeze would have been that violent without the positioning providing an accelerant?
