With the reported departures of Thunder champions Aaron Wiggins and Isaiah Joe, it is most fitting to honor their legacy in Oklahoma City. These two gentlemen were key contributors to our 2025 NBA championship, our city’s first championship in a major league professional sport. Aaron and Isaiah will therefore always be a part of OKC’s history. On behalf of the people of Oklahoma City, we thank Aaron and Isaiah and we wish them all the best in their next chapter. You can only be in the 2nd apron two years in a 5 year span before the harsh penalties come in the 3rd year. Now that OKC has traded Wiggins and Joe, it’s clear that they need to trade Dort to get under the 2nd apron this upcoming year ($222mil). When you consider that two years from now JUST Shai, Dub and Chet alone will tie up $150+mil of the projected $232mil 2nd apron…OKC will almost certainly be in the 2nd apron two and three years from now, meaning OKC can’t waste an apron year on this upcoming season.
