There was a time when marriages were celebrated because they represented commitment, sacrifice, trust, and the beginning of a lifelong journey.

Today, it appears that simply having another wedding is enough to earn standing ovations, red carpets, celebrity endorsements, and endless congratulations.

One can't help but ask: What exactly are we celebrating?

A third marriage? The normalization of serial relationships? Or the growing belief that commitments are temporary while celebrations are permanent?

Celebrities often say they are role models. If that is true, then every public celebration also sends a public message. Millions of young people watch them, admire them, and imitate them. Whether they like it or not, influence comes with responsibility.

It is also worth asking an uncomfortable question: Would the same people cheering so enthusiastically be equally delighted if their own son, daughter, or grandchild entered a third marriage? Or do principles suddenly become different when the issue reaches their own doorstep?

No one is questioning an individual's legal right to make personal choices. Every adult has that freedom. But society also has every right to question why those choices are being glorified as though they are achievements deserving of public applause.

Marriage, in Indian culture, has traditionally been viewed as a sacred bond built on responsibility, compromise, and perseverance—not as an event to be repeatedly celebrated every time life takes a new turn.

The real concern isn't one person's personal life. It is the culture of celebrity worship that applauds everything without asking whether it deserves celebration.

Perhaps the bigger disappointment is not the wedding itself, but the deafening applause from an industry that frequently lectures society about values, responsibility, and setting the right example.

When celebrity becomes more important than principles, hypocrisy stops being the exception—it becomes the norm.

Just because something is legal doesn't automatically make it worthy of celebration.
