I taught at an online charter school. Early we gave parents freedoms to choose. I had a lot parents choose faith based curricula. They always knocked state test out of the park. The school added curricula specialist and test scores plummeted and faith based kids left our school. I was also an AP teacher in brick and mortar. Their curricula is almost impossible to teach.
@CollettJQ@jenteach13 Having spent 30 years in a classroom. They really don’t. They might be in the classroom but day to day it’s the teacher sitting with 30 kids an hour , without resources - just trying to survive. My experience Admin first to far to many conferences and not enough time in class
@CollettJQ@rlluko@jenteach13 Why not? Do Doctors and lawyers have feedom to do their job as they were trained to do? Do Business leaders have freedoms to do as they desire? Should parents be informed of content taught? Yes. But the need to engage and talk to their children.
Well said. Many class rooms do not have access to curricula to teach the class. Chromebook’s have also made it an easy to cheat.
The biggest obstacle is administration that is afraid of parents and favor teachers that don’t rock the boat but are the students friends and do not challenge their students. Many students want a’s with no work
