I enjoyed @KMFollett's depiction of the 16th- and 17th-centuries in Column of Fire, so I decided to try his novel of the early middle ages, Evening and the Morning. That was so entertaining that I reread Pillars of the Earth, read World Without End, and am now rereading Column!
I don't think I'm alone in wishing that @vintagebooks published a new edition of Walter Tevis's riveting #TheQueensGambit with an appendix that included the games with diagrams and modern notation. #amreading#chess

I just finished @holland_tom's _Dynasty_ and am suffering withdrawal, wishing that he had another book continuing the story on through the Flavians and Nerva–Antonines. #amreading#RomanHistory
_Fantasyland_, @KBAndersen's history of magical thinking in the United States provides excellent context for the fine mess we're in. Highly recommended. #amreading
Here in the Chico, California, the ground is once again covered in ash, and the air is poisonous. Knowing that tonight I can immerse myself in the Book 2 of @LordGrimdark's _Age of Madness_ trilogy is the only thing getting me through.
In _The #Vikings: A History_, Robert Ferguson uses sagas and other literary sources, runestones, and archaeology to tell a compelling, complex story. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the early Middle Ages. #AmReading.
In his terrific Red Rising series, @Pierce_Brown puts the epic in space epic. His war across the solar system keeps reminding me of Milton's war in heaven. #BookRecommendation, #AmReading.
