Here’s my humble theory about the direction of this episode and how I feel it was constructed ☝🏼

Instead of only thinking, “They cut the kisses,” I think we should ask ourselves why the direction chose to show us so many intimate moments, but kept them so brief. To me, this episode is trying to convey urgency rather than romance

Dean and Moth went a whole week without seeing each other, and when they finally meet again, everything happens incredibly fast. On top of that, there has already been tension between them since the previous episodes that clearly hadn’t reached its conclusion: kisses, closeness, being in bed, more kisses… but the camera never lingers too long on any of these moments either

I feel like the series is telling us: these two have a physical and emotional need that they still don’t know how to process!

And I think this is important because we’re only on episode 5 out of 10. If the intention were to present this as “they’re already in love,” the storytelling would probably look different: more conversations, asking about each other’s private lives, etc

Instead, it feels like there’s a deliberate acceleration. The kisses keep appearing, but they’re brief in the shots, like little bursts of tension they’ve been building up

And it works precisely because they themselves are rushing. They’re not thinking, “Let’s build something together.” It’s more like: “I missed you, I want you close, I don’t know what to do with this, and I don’t even know what we are”

This also fits their dynamic from the beginning. They’re two characters who have trouble putting their feelings into words, so when they’re finally together, their bodies react before they can process what they’re feeling 🤷🏻‍♀️

That’s also why I don’t think this episode should be read as their Lover Era just yet. To me, we’re seeing more of the physical phase: they seek each other out, kiss, desire each other, and fall back into this physical dynamic, but they haven’t reached the point of saying, “I like you,” “I want to be with you,” or even asking themselves what they want to do with all of this

I think that may actually be the intention behind the direction: to make us feel like everything is happening too fast because, for them, everything is happening too fast too

So yes, I completely understand if someone says, “I wanted it to last longer.” As a fan, that’s completely valid. But narratively, the fact that the kisses are brief doesn’t necessarily mean they were edited badly or that the episode was accidentally rushed

Maybe the episode feels rushed because Dean and Moth are rushing 💨

And considering we’re only halfway through the story, I also wouldn’t assume that this represents what their relationship will be like. It could very well be the stage before the physical dynamic stops being enough to hide the emotional side of things…
