@RutgersAltRoute Mindset conscious assessments allows students and teachers to know the assessment is meant for you to continue to grow. Teachers are taking into the consideration of the students and their mindsets while making assessments. This helps set students up for success.
@RutgersAltRoute In dance feedback is EVERYTHING. I think the best ways to give feedback is in the moment and give wait time for students to fix the mistake or practice so they can show again. Also giving written feedback can be useful for a bigger dance phrase or piece of choreography
@RutgersAltRoute I can give more research opportunities in my classes so student can see more dancers from around the world. I can also use performance opportunities as something students work towards to show their growth in the technique
@RutgersAltRoute Teachers can promote a growth mindset by giving students access through technology to see things they wouldn’t see in their own neighborhoods. Also by deep diving into challenges and preparing students to overcome them.
@RutgersAltRoute A teachers mindset can influence their students. It can be very positive if the teachers is mindful to teach a growing mindset rather than a fixed mindset . Teaching students the importance of a growth mindset will set them up to be successful.
@RutgersAltRoute I believe that schools and admin can fine tune behavior management to support students with learning disabilities by training all teachers and aids to be able to safely and effectively give students all the support they need throughout the school year.

@RutgersAltRoute I’m my dance class I allow students with adhd and other disabilities to have the space and opportunity to create as much as possible. A way for me to check for understanding is to see them move. If they use the class content to create themselves they can show mastery
@RutgersAltRoute I allow students to take a lot of breaks because learning dance content may be a lot to handle all at once, I also use visual aids in the classroom (posters, videos) so students can see what I want them to do on different people.
@RutgersAltRoute In my dance class I have struggled with students that don’t have strong motor functions being about to do the dance steps without getting frustrated with themselves in the process.
@RutgersAltRoute Every conflict deserves a conversation no matter how big or small it is. All parties need to be heard so that a resolution can come about.
@RutgersAltRoute Both parents & homeroom teachers of my students understand that I set high expectations & we work together to uphold these expectations not only in my classroom but with every teacher. Communication with parents & homeroom teachers holds students accountable for their behavior
@RutgersAltRoute Evidence of choreographic devices, dance elements & artistic intent. This forces students to use genre specific vocabulary in dialogue with one another rather than other language that can hurt the performers feelings
@RutgersAltRoute In my dance class, students never share work just to watch eachother dance, they share work to critique & revise. Students should never give an “I like/ I don’t like it” answer, instead they give an “it’s effective/ it’s ineffective because” but that answer must be grounded in
@RutgersAltRoute I create a safe learning environment as a dance teacher by make ins sure students are about 4ft away from eachother so they can safely move their bodies. My students also know that they can come to me with issues and or problems they are having in and out of school. I also try to
@RutgersAltRoute My most common way of communication is my phone/text/email. This way is the easiest for me and my parents so that I have a direct line to parents for information and updates
