Right-Wingism means lacking a theory of power.

The fact that Charlie Kirk's assassination is now a source of comedy for much of the country is proof of this.

Rightoids thought, in the aftermath of Kirk's death, that they could guilt people into submitting to them. That's what they think happened with MLK. white people were made to feel bad and supported Civil Rights against their better judgement because white people are too nice and nice people are dupes that can be manipulated.

Wrong. These taboos are enforced by power: the ability to get people fired or ostracized through control of institutions. The power to throw people you don't like in prison. To do that you need lawyers, judges, professional activists, lobbyists, money guys, journalists, academics, etc. They need to be physically concentrated in places where power is brokered (NYC, DC, etc) and they need to coordinate to fill important positions with one another.

But the Reaganite morons don't produce these, at least not in sufficient quantity. Charlie Kirk spent his whole career telling his followers that going to college is for liberal sissies and to become plumbers in small town America instead.

So when a Washington Post reporter gets fired for making fun of Kirk's death, she has a bunch of lawyer friends and judges who agree with her that legally mandate WaPo to reinstate her and pay her for her troubles. This has happened to practically everyone who got in any kind of trouble for celebrating Kirk's death.

Candace Owens, who is indeed a serial fabulist and attention seeker, made the best of the situation. She turned it into a rallying point against Zionism by saying Israel killed him.

Had Owens gone along with the rightoid script some goofass consultants in Texas concocted ("He is YOU!") nothing would've happened.
