Interesting that Sulaimani-based NRT TV appears to be the only media outlet in the Kurdistan Region hosting officials from Iranian Kurdish groups. In this case, it interviewed Shamal Piran, a Germany-based member of PAK’s leadership council.

No other Iraqi Kurdish media outlet, especially the major ones affiliated with the KDP, PUK, or other opposition parties, appears to have hosted any officials from these groups during the war. That likely reflects Iranian sensitivities and the fact that, under the Iran-Iraq security agreement, such groups are effectively barred from any political activities including appearing on these outlets. All the more notable, then, that NRT is still doing so.
