বুধবার, মার্চ ১৯, ২০২৫, রাজধানীর ইস্কাটনের লেডিস ক্লাবে বিএনপির ইফতার মাহফিলে সভাপতির বক্তব্যে তিনি এসব কথা বলেন। অনুষ্ঠানে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে লন্ডন থেকে ভার্চুয়ালি যুক্ত হন দলটির ভারপ্রাপ্ত চেয়ারম্যান তারেক রহমান। ইফতারকে কেন্দ্র করে ইস্কাটনে রাজনৈতিক দলের নেতাদের মিলনমেলায় পরিণত হয়।

ঐক্যে জোর দিয়ে বিএনপি মহাসচিব বলেন, এই মুহূর্তে ঐক্য অত্যন্ত প্রয়োজন। আলোচনার মাধ্যমে সমস্যাগুলো নিরসন করা। বিএনপি জনগণের ভোটে নির্বাচিত হলে দলের ৩১ দফা বাস্তবায়ন করার প্রতিশ্রুতিও দেন তিনি।

গণতন্ত্রের পথে যাওয়ার বিকল্প নেই উল্লেখ করে বিএনপি মহাসচিব বলেন, দ্রুত নির্বাচনের কথা পরিষ্কারভাবে বলছি। কারণ, জনগণের নির্বাচিত সরকার গঠন করা। নির্বাচিত সরকার প্রয়োজনীয় সংস্কার করবে।

তিনি বলেন, বিভিন্ন খাতের সংস্কার প্রস্তাবগুলো ইতোমধ্যে রাজনৈতিক দলগুলোর কাছে পৌঁছে গেছে। আমি অনুরোধ করব এগুলো গভীরভাবে পর্যবেক্ষণ করে মতামত দেওয়ার। যাতে সবাইকে নিয়ে সামনের পথ এগোতে পারি।
