Unfortunately, this is the natural result of the strategy to reduce inflation. The fed is keeping rates high until it feels more confident that inflation is under control. High rates discourage borrowing and investment, which results in fewer business expanding or growing. As is typical, once rates decline, the trend reverses itself.

No matter who is president, they would have limited options (none good) to fight inflation, and it’s never as fun for everyone as the original spending was.
