1️⃣Joburg Water has advised that repairs to the burst pipe affecting parts of Sundowner, Northgate and Northriding AH still need to be completed before water supply can be restored to the affected areas.

Residents in affected areas are requested to please confirm in the comments or via direct message once JoJo tanks and water tankers have been sighted at the designated locations for alternative water supply.

There is also concern that the Olivedale Reservoir may run dry as a result of the ongoing isolation of the Honeydew Reservoir system. Joburg Water is monitoring the situation and we have requested further clarity on the potential impact.

2️⃣Regarding the water supply issues affecting Bromhof, Boskruin and Randpark Ridge, the matter now appears to be unresolved as reports of renewed water outages have been received. Joburg Water has confirmed that they will investigate the issue and provide feedback.

I continue to engage Joburg Water management and will share further updates as soon as additional information becomes available.

Joburg Water has now confirmed that there are two water pipe bursts affecting the Northgate area.

Their teams are attending to the matter and Joburg Water has advised that an official communication will be issued on their social media channels with further details regarding the affected areas and repair progress.

I will continue to monitor the situation and engage Joburg Water for updates, particularly regarding the ongoing water supply challenges being experienced in Northgate and surrounding areas.

Joburg Water teams are currently attending to the major burst pipe on Blandford Drive.

The water supply has been isolated to enable repairs to be undertaken safely. As a result, parts of Northgate, Northriding and Sundowner may experience low water pressure or a loss of water supply while repairs are underway.

In addition, Joburg Water is investigating reports of no water supply and low pressure in parts of Randpark Ridge, Bromhof and Boskruin. Teams are currently checking the network for any closed valves or other operational issues that may be contributing to the ongoing supply interruptions.

Further updates will be provided as soon as additional information becomes available from Joburg Water.

The ongoing water supply issues affecting parts of Northgate, Boskruin, Bromhof and Randpark Ridge have now been escalated to the highest levels within Joburg Water, including senior management, by Cllr Bittkau and myself.

At present, there appear to be three separate issues impacting water supply in the area:

🔹 A major burst water pipe on Blandford Road, reportedly caused by a City Power contractor.

🔹 A complete loss of water supply affecting parts of Northgate, which residents have been experiencing since approximately 11h00 on 08 June 2026.

🔹 Ongoing intermittent water supply issues affecting Bromhof, Boskruin and Randpark Ridge over the past two months, which have deteriorated into a complete loss of supply in some areas since 07 June 2026.

We are awaiting urgent feedback from Joburg Water regarding the status of repairs, the root causes of the outages, and the expected timelines for restoration.
