• Is this policy correct?
• If so, why?
• Is there a better solution that lets customers use their own USD without affecting eligibility for the monthly e-commerce allowance?
I'm only asking for a clear explanation and a practical solution. (8/8)
Dear @bankofmaldives@MMA_Maldives
I'm raising the same issue for the second month in a row, and it's becoming very frustrating.
I keep USD in my USD account specifically to pay for my international business subscriptions and online services. (1/6)
I'm not asking for more USD or a higher limit—only to use the USD already in my account for business subscriptions like Google Ads and other international platforms. Could BML please clarify if this is the official policy and whether there's a better long-term solution? (7/7)
Why should temporarily changing my debit card to use my own USD funds affect my eligibility for the USD 250 monthly e-commerce allowance once I switch it back to my MVR account? 6/7
I was informed that if I change my debit card to my USD account as the primary account and later switch it back to my MVR account, I will no longer be eligible for the USD 250 monthly e-commerce allowance.
This is what I don't understand. (5/6)
The only option I have is to change my debit card to use my USD account as the primary account so I can pay directly from my own USD balance.
I don't mind doing that if it keeps my business running.
My concern is what happens afterwards. (4/6)
I understand this happens because the daily foreign transaction limit on the MVR account has been used up. The problem is that there is no way for me to know when that limit will become available again. I can't keep retrying while my business payments remain unpaid. (3/6)
Even though I have enough USD in my account, my payments are still declined because my debit card is linked to my MVR account as the primary account.
The payment fails with:
"Daily budget for this website from local currency has reached the limit." (2/6)
@MetMaldives The tremor was felt by me and my family as well. I’m from Henveiru Majeedheemagu, and my niece’s house is in Maafannu Majeedheemagu we both felt it clearly.
@STELCOMALDIVES Could you stop disrupting our sleep with those midnight SMS beeps, especially the ones regarding bill payments? Schedule them for daytime instead! What wrong with you people.
