Entre los 80 y los 90, hubo redes coordinadas de hoteles, guías, jineteras y personal de seguridad del Estado. No era ligue casual. Había intermediación: traductores, funcionarios culturales, choferes, recepcionistas de confianza. Las acompañantes no improvisaban: se evaluaba la discreción, la lealtad política y el silencio posterior.

Todo ocurría en espacios cerrados. En casas de protocolo, bungalows aislados, pisos reservados de hoteles. Había entradas y salidas sin registro visible, horarios protegidos, cero cámaras. La intimidad incluía alcohol importado, comida inaccesible para el cubano común, música privada.

Y esto era a nivel oficial.

¿Qué pasaba con la gente de a pie? Cuba se convirtió en un burdel mundial. Todos los extranjeros iban a Cuba a tener sexo con menores de edad, a casarse con niñas con el consentimiento de los padres y la vista gorda de las autoridades.

No, a Fidel Castro y a sus acólitos no les hacía falta codearse con Epstein porque tenían una finca propia, con mucha menos transparencia de documentación que los pudiera delatar en el futuro.

I am tired of standing before good Jewish people to offer condolences and expressions of solidarity. Words are not enough. We must do what is necessary to keep us all safe.

We know the evil we face. We see it. We know how it operates, how it abuses our democracy, and subverts our institutions.

Radical Islamism is a threat to Western civilisation. It is incompatible with British values of freedom, equality, and the rule of law.

Action means breaking up extremist networks that radicalise our youth, safeguarding Jewish communities, stopping protests from becoming platforms for violence, and revoking visas from foreign students who celebrate antisemitic terror.

As Jewish families across Britain gather to celebrate Chanukah, we do so this year with heavy hearts, after the horrific scenes in Sydney, where people were murdered simply for being Jewish.

These were targeted attacks, driven by the same ancient hatred that has resurfaced with frightening confidence across the world, including here in the UK.

The attack at Heaton Park in Manchester was an act of terror that brought fear to an anguished community already living with a disturbing rise in antisemitism. We need truth, courage and moral conviction more than ever.

Chanukah is a story of resilience, courage, and the refusal to surrender. This time last year, we called for the return of British hostage Emily Damari. This year, we can finally say she is home, along with all the living hostages. That is something to celebrate and it is a reminder that even after the darkest nights, light can return.

A Jewish community gathering in Sydney to celebrate Chanukah was violently targeted in a vicious terrorist attack. Families, children and community members came together to mark a festival of light and were met with hatred and violence simply for being Jewish. The lives lost will not fade into statistics; their deaths will remain a painful and enduring memory for the Jewish people and for all who believe in the sanctity of life.

The attack in Sydney did not occur in isolation. It unfolded within a global climate where antisemitism is increasingly normalised, where Zionism is relentlessly demonised, and where calls to “globalise the intifada” are shouted openly, defended by activists, and excused by political leaders. That language carries real meaning. It gives permission for violence against Jews wherever they gather, pray or celebrate their identity.

When incitement is allowed to flourish, extremists feel emboldened. When antisemitism is reframed as political critique, Jewish communities become legitimate targets in the eyes of those already inclined to violence. The result is tragically clear: Jewish festivals turn into scenes of terror, and Jewish lives are placed in danger.

Our hearts are heavy, and our outrage is unwavering. We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Sydney and across Australia as they mourn, grieve and begin the long road forward. The memory of those killed will accompany this Chanukah and many to come.

Governments and leaders cannot distance themselves from the consequences of the climate they have fostered. Rhetoric matters. Silence matters. The failure to confront antisemitism - including when it disguises itself as anti-Zionism - creates an environment in which violence becomes foreseeable rather than unthinkable.

The Jewish people will remember the victims. We will mourn them. And we will continue to demand accountability, protection and moral clarity so that Jewish life, faith and celebration are never again met with terror.
