Sorry to bust your bubble, but nobody knows who wrote Matthew and John, and the Mark You Have Now Is Likely Not Authentic
I love God and have spent a great deal of time and money studying Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, not just by attending a church, synagogue, or mosque and listening to the opinions of others, but by extensive travel, research, consultation, ideation, meditation, and prayer.
There is hardly a place in the Jewish Tanakh, Christian New Testament, or Islamic al-Quran that I have not been to out of love for God.
For example, the attached photo is of me at the John Rylands Research Institute and Library, where I went to investigate the oldest New Testament manuscript on Earth, the Rylands Library Papyrus P52, which is 1,900 years old.
And one thing I observed is that many practitioners of religion do not know much about their faiths beyond what their denominations feed them.
Let us start with Christianity.
One of the greatest grey areas in Christianity is the assumption that the Gospels are Scripture in the sense that they are the direct Word of God, as in the "Thus says the Lord".
Are they inspired works? Yes. They are also written accounts of historians (Luke) who never met Yeshua (Jesus).
Luke actually says so in the opening of his letter to Theophilus (Luke and The Book of Acts are a long letter or treatise to Theophilus). He says quite clearly that he did not directly experience the things he was writing about and was only writing what he had been told by persons who were eyewitnesses to the events he detailed.
He never claimed that he heard from God or was inspired by the Holy Spirit. The source of his writings (Luke) came purely and exclusively from investigative journalism, which he referenced in Luke 1:3:
"I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning. I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus."
Luke may have experienced some of the events in the book of Acts.
A Gospel that could be direct eyewitness recollections is maybe Mark. The original author of Mark wrote only Mark 1-16:8. EVERYTHING after Mark 16:8 was added centuries later by an unknown author.
Before you insult me, just do your research. This is a fact!
Why do I say maybe, when I reference Mark? Well, of all the Gospels, Mark is the oldest and is mostly believed to have been written by him. But the truth is that we are not sure who wrote it.
By faith, I accept that Mark wrote it.
The books of Matthew and John were ATTRIBUTED to them. The truth is that these were ANONYMOUS works and nobody knows the authors.
And when they were first discovered, they were not known as the Book of Matthew or the Book of John. Please fact-check me.
Matthew was anonymous for two years until European Christians decided to name it The Gospel According to Matthew.
The anonymous book that we now know as the Gospel According to John was only so named 150 years after its discovery. Prior to that it was an anonymous book.
In fact, John 21:24 proves that John is unlikely to have authored the book that now bears his name.
That verse reads:
"This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true."
Please, for your sake, assume I am lying and fact-check me.
When Paul wrote 2 Timothy 3:16 and says:
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness"
He was referring to the Jewish Tanakh, not the Gospels. How do we know? Because Paul's letters were written BEFORE the entire Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
1st Thessalonians was the first book of the New Testament to be written. And it was actually a letter. Mark, the oldest Gospel, was written about fifteen years later.
All the Gospels were written AFTER the death of Yeshua (Jesus) and Paul, and were never used by Yeshua or Paul's followers in their lifetimes.
Instead of following dogma, why not investigate these assertions and fact-check me?
Believe in them, but have it at the back of your mind that Yeshua (Jesus) was a practising Jewish Rabbi. Paul himself was a practising Jewish believer and expert in Jewish law, as he said in his various letters and in the historical account of Luke, his protégé, in Acts 22:3.
Likewise, Peter, who also self-identified as a Jew in Acts 10:28.
In essence, much of what you categorise as Christianity is actually not from Yeshua (Jesus) or His teachings, or the Jewish Tanakh.
More than 50% of your Christian practices originated in Europe, specifically in Rome, not from Scripture.
I do not want to upset people, so I will not specify which doctrines, dogmas, and practices I refer to.
To therefore hate anyone and believe they will not make heaven, and will be eternally burnt in hell on account of European dogma and the Gospels is just plain brainwashing.
Believe what you want to believe, but leave room for the possibility that you may be wrong, even if that wrongness is sincere.
Once you get to that level, you begin to understand what Peter said in Acts 10:34-35:
"Then Peter began to speak: “I now realise how true it is that God does not show favouritism, but accepts from every nation the one who fears him and does what is right."
Finally, Paul was not certain that everything he wrote was the word of God. He was honest enough to qualify that he was giving his opinions, and sometimes he thought, but was not emphatically sure, that those opinions agreed with what the Spirit said.
You can see some of these caveats in 1 Corinthians 7:40 and 2 Corinthians 8:10:
"But in my opinion it would be better for her to stay single, and I think I am giving you counsel from God’s Spirit when I say this."
"I give my opinion in this matter, for this is to your advantage, who were the first to begin a year ago not only to do this, but also to desire to do it."
In fact, at the beginning of his ministry, Paul was not sure he was on the right path until he went to confer with Peter and John. We see this in Galatians 2:2, which, like almost all of Paul's works, were letters, not books:
"I went in response to a revelation and, meeting privately with those esteemed as leaders, I presented to them the gospel that I preach among the Gentiles. I wanted to be sure I was not running and had not been running my race in vain."
So, I urge you to be less dogmatic with people of other faiths and even within your religion, of other denominations. It is not your business to judge them. Live and let live. At the end of the day, we will all die, and the great Judge will do the rest.

@General_Somto I have never seen problematic people like the igbos. Madam thief na theif abeg, they don't care your tribe. why do you guys like to create problems in this country??
@BiaPulse Religion isn’t DNA. If colonizers brought cow worship, many would still defend it. Yet these same colonizers killed, enslaved our ancestors and stole our resources—and we still follow them. Make una reason small.
@BiaPulse They have brainwashed these people to the point that they can't even think well. They gave the igbos Christianity as a tool of control, and they have been using it to destabilize the country. Some igbo even thinks Jesus is an igbo🤣 so they r christains by blood..
It’s only Shaytan would stop you from reposting the 99 Beautiful Names of Allah.
May Allah make us among those who know His Names and enter Jannah through them. Ameen 🤲

@VivianIfeomaOj That shows that they are really serious about bringing an end to the insecurities in the east.
But as for the north, they don't want it to end, and thats why they keep releasing the criminals to continue what they are doing.
They said there is no Islam in Igbo land, yet here we are.
From Catholicism to Islam, an Igbo sister expresses gratitude and joy after meeting Igbo Muslim elders at the Igbo Muslim National Summit, Enugu 2025.
Islam has a place in every land.
A strong message from a revert Igbo sister to Ibo Christians jews who think Igbo are in Islam for money.
Igbo Muslims chose Islam because it liberated them, gave them purpose, and filled their hearts with peace. Don't assume they're in Islam for worldly benefits, No they are just convinced Islam is d way so respect their choice, and know that their love for Allah is greater than any earthly gain, no among of hates and propaganda can stop Islam in Igbo land ✊💯
Hating Islam is a free promotion of Islam!
The spread of Islam is gaining increasing acceptance in Igbo communities.
In the near future, the core Igbo states of South-East Nigeria are expected to witness a significant rise in Islamic influence insha Allah
