@ClaudiaSwisher 2/2 BTW, Oklahoma considers me “probationary” again. I evaluated teachers for four years but upon returning to the classroom in 2021 - even having never left the profession and having been in the same district for 13 consecutive years - the state department made me start over.

@ClaudiaSwisher I’ve taught in OK 29 yrs, always had excellent evals; yet, never been my building TOY. That alone disqualifies me from this incentive. That’s the opposite of empowering. It’s demeaning & demoralizing to those who remain committed and steadfast, yet fly under the radar.

@ClaudiaSwisher 1/2 I received my NBTC in 2010, and willingly gave it up in 2017 to take an assistant principal job. But, yes, I do think that’s a much better incentive program. It’s fair and equitable and based on a body of work, rather than a vote.

@kayleeolivastv @oksde @kfor Even if the money is there, it’s another way to demean teachers. Only those who have been a building level teacher of the year qualify. Some teachers (me, for one) are excellent educators, mentors, and teammates, yet have never been a TOY. Talk about demoralizing.
