Whilst ringing birds at Kenema Rice Fields in Sierra Leone last January, we caught a Wood Sandpiper with a ring on. It was ringed in Spain in August 2010, so at 11 years 5 months old it is the second oldest Wood Sandpiper ever recorded and it is 3890km from the ringing location!
