New collaborative @bioRxiv alert, with @TommasiniDario, @shekharlab and @TaYoshimatsu about the molecular and evolutionary relationships across vertebrate rods and cones: https://t.co/y41AZi4mpF
a mini thread...
Got to spend our 8 year anniversary weekend with my wife at the 2025 Pokémon Louisville Regional Championships! Even got to see @WolfeyGlick play in the flesh #playpokemon
Next paper out today! TLDR; We identified a pathway where neonatal ipRGCs regulate immature rod pruning during development. Loads of transient events - hybrid neurites, transiently expressed receptors, and rod migration. Thanks to all those involved!

@Thepurplelilac Great questions! Seems like the M1/M3 types project into the INbL during development (Figure S2). Couldn't find many direct contacts between rods and ipRGCs, but found them in close volumetric proximity. We think that it might be more direct through volumetric glutamate release!
New work out from the lab! TL;DR: we made an Opn4cre mouse line that is compatible with the Ai-series of Cre reporters, and used it to map the spatial distribution of the M1-M6 ipRGC types!
Thanks to all involved! Reach out if you want the line
