@mousmar @discGolfZulu FIFA are the ones that have brought VAR to the forefront. You can’t set the precedent for how it is supposed to be used and then break that. The bigger issue that sucks for both teams is that FIFA waited until the day before the game and didn’t outline their decision in detail.

@HelloBenWhite @UEFA Everything you said is wrong. Referee didn’t give red card initially. In proper use of VAR by using slow motion and still frames were used to issue the red card. That’s the problem here. No foul was given on the field.

@HelloBenWhite @stephenchip @UEFA I feel like US fans and all fans alike can agree the timing of the announcement and the lack of explanation from FIFA are the biggest issues. This should have been done not long after Bosnia match not the day before Belgium. Also FIFA did not say why they arrived at the decision.

@TouchlineX They also did not follow their own rules and provisions with regard to VAR in the issuance of the red card. Not a hard leap to make that they are admitting they failed their own VAR protocols in the first place by suspending the sentence. That said should have done this days ago.

@_brightooo @fiago7 That ref had already been investigated for match fixing by FIFA for giving irregular red cards prior to the WC. Then using VAR slow motion and stop frame replays (which make anything look worse) as the basis for the in match decision goes against the rules put in place for VAR.
