@KaraPepperMD For my grandmothers birthday we put together a booklet from the family of messages, stories, things we love and notice about her, etc. It gets around the discomfort of spending time or money and adding clutter, and creates a beautiful collection from people she loves.
@kathymills9 @caseydanielee I often ask kids to remember their last vaccine (when they are scared of the current one). Did it hurt? Yup. Does it still hurt? Nope. And I will do everything possible to make this as minimally painful, quick, and with consent as possible.
@MichaelFulwiler Checking boxes on Psychology Today for modalities you are not trained in and conditions you do not actually have expertise in is very problematic.
@lizajsb Also deciding I just don’t care about eating the halachic amounts of things at the Seder. It would make the whole experience awful and centered on that.
@lizajsb This!!! My coping mechanism is my savtas pesach pancakes! They’re a (vegetarian) pesach food that my recovery brain can usually handle and actually makes me feel like I ate real food. Although I have definitely cried making them so YMMV 🤷♀️
@JennSedlerMD One NICU parent made a rule that anyone who came into their baby’s room had to say something positive. “Good job not seizing for the past half hour!” It created this circle of love, warmth, and hope.
@RebbeSMZ @roripn Picked that one up earlier this year before realizing it was a pandemic book. Prepare yourself for an absolutely ridiculous ending though
