Someone frustratedly said to me “I can’t believe how much I have to think about what I post nowadays”- all day I’ve thought about what a beautiful thing that is; to think about what we are saying and consider the impact of it. The invitation to self reflect is a necessary gift.
Earlier today in a candidates’ debate, my opponent Fiona Martin accused me of having previously contested preselection in Fowler.
I have never sought to run for Fowler. I live in Reid, my son goes to school in Reid, and I am excited by the opportunity to represent my community.
This week the Morrison government appointed a bunch of ‘mates’ to key statutory positions. Much of the commentary has focused on nepotism - which is fair enough because it is pretty revolting.
But I reckon this is just another step in a deliberate wrecking agenda 🧵: #auspol
The thing I was most shocked at living down south is how close and cosy the relationship between media and power is - a lot of these journos and pollies go to the same schools, unis, have same social circles etc
As we face more devastating east-coast floods, much of the commentary on the government’s abandonment of impacted communities has focused on @ScottMorrisonMP’s character & obsession with image management.
I reckon there's more going on - a deliberate wrecking agenda 🧵#auspol
A stark reminder that election periods often uncover actions that should have been taken long ago in a bid to appease voters. At what cost? 4,000 years of human life in some instances.
#Australia finally accepts 9-year offer from #NewZealand to resettle 450 #refugees after steadfastly refusing to accept responsibility for them.
That’s more than 4,000 years of human potential—of dignified life—thrown away for no good reason.

Imagine a budget that treated climate change seriously. An end to fossil fuel subsidies, support for solar and wind, and more choice in electric vehicles. It’s what business has been crying out for, but tonight - nothing.
Today the Morrison Government voted against 49 of the 55 recommendations made in the landmark Respect@Work report by @Kate_Jenkins_ .
These reforms would have had a real long term impact on the lives of all Australian women ensuring safer and more equitable workplaces. (1/2)
Melbourne may still be in lockdown.
But some of its most iconic landmarks – @AAMIPark, @cityofmelbourne Town Hall, Flinders St Station and Bolte Bridge – are still lit up in brilliant purple on @OverdoseDay to honour our lost loved ones, and recognise those living with the loss.
He’s a comedy icon.
But this @OverdoseDay, @Jimeoin has a serious message.
Australia’s Annual Overdose Report 2021 reveals that, for the sixth straight year, more than 2,000 Aussies have died of overdose.
Time to stop the silence.
Australia, it’s time for a dose of reality.
If we Aussies don’t rush to offer sanctuary to our Afghan friends and allies, we’re complicit in genocide…this isn’t True Blue conduct…haven’t heard from Peter Dutton for a long time…is he well enough to do his job and save our Afghan allies😳🇦🇺.
Breaking: PM Scott Morrison says not all Afghan interpreters and other staff will be able to be rescued to Australia. "I know that support won't reach all that it should. On the ground events have overtaken many efforts. We wish it were different."
That's a wrap on our discussion about young people, the COVID-19 recovery, and hope. Thank you to our wonderful panelists @MrKRudd, @Olilelievre, @yasmin_poole, Lillian Arnold-Rendell and Ivo Barreto.
