After a few hours of not knowing if I'll have a place to sleep for that night, I realise (again): Uncertainty is incredibly stressful and makes it hard to think clearly..
Leaving Carrión this morning, after having done 15km yesterday. Everyone's in a rush to complete the 100km to Leon in 3 days, which will be hard with the heat wave of 35 degrees. People are also stressed to get beds in the towns ahead, leaving as early as 4/5am
After finding the beautiful Finca last night, I wanted to stay there and take a day to chill and think. It was too difficult for me to let my new friends take off without me and the Camino wants to be walked. Not sure I did the right thing. I'll never know.
Day 1 of walking. 31km. Met a girl doing architecture who's interested in doing a PhD on how to improve juvenile prisons through their architecture. She saw it and a sign to do the PhD, having talked to me.
Day 2. 40km. Thought that I'd have to sleep in the field. In the end, found the best place to stay imaginable. The extra miles were worth the blisters. The Camino (and life) always provides.
I'm doing the Camino de Santiago. For many reasons but finding the balance between loving and getting ahead in research and loving life is a main one. #phdjourney#caminodesantiago
