The sun is shining for today's West Indian American Day Carnival Parade! This celebration of Caribbean culture and community has been happening on Eastern Parkway since 1967. ☀️

Fun fact:
The West Indian Day Carnival has grown from a community-oriented festival into NYC's biggest parade, drawing an annual estimated revenue of $300 million to the city; making it the largest parade in North America. 1/2
@porterairlines the contents of my baggage from my Toronto to Newark flight arrived damaged. It was labelled as fragile and it’s very clear that the tape holding it int the placed was removed by your employees. How do I get compensated for this?
@NYCSanitation this vehicle has been sitting on the southbound service road of Grand Concourse bust below Van Cortlandt Avenue East for ~ 24 hours. The axle appears cracked and the license plates stripped. Buses and cars are swerving around it.

UPDATE: Conditions will continue to worsen this evening and we expect more of the same tomorrow. Here's what New Yorkers need to know. See real-time air quality in NYC: https://t.co/VHIYVKZCRw
No one should be outside tonight. Mayor should immediately call for “Code Red” conditions to allow everyone at risk to access shelter immediately.
DHS should conduct expanded outreach to everyone to help all street homeless New Yorkers get inside.
7/ If you want to look at what the air quality is at the neighborhood level, we’re using this tool from the city health department: https://t.co/JWGMekJXGl
We are 36 hours into an air quality emergency & other than a late night suspension of outdoor DOE activities, our city government has not taken a single proactive step to protect New Yorkers.
As climate change continues to lead to more and more wildfires across North America — we can’t continue to hope that New Yorkers won’t be affected — especially since nearly 1 million New Yorkers are impacted by asthma.
Poor air quality is a major health threat with lasting consequences and we need to respond accordingly.
Here is what the City should be doing immediately:
Got to see the La India Concert – for the third time! – at my alma mater, @LehmanCollege. In addition to The Home of Hip Hop, The Bronx will always be El Condado de La Salsa! #MusicHistory#BronxWeek
🚨I’m bringing the tenant protests to Twitter TONIGHT.
The Rent Guidelines Board will vote at 7 PM at Cooper Union whether to approve this 16% rent increase.
Whole tenant community will be out there at 6 marching. I’ll be live tweeting so be ready!
