@Nike sucks and their customer service is horrible. I just placed 3 orders within a week and they keep messing up and don’t want to fix it smh, @Nike needs to fix this
@RutgersAltRoute A5: Mindset-conscious assessment should measure how well students are meeting learning targets & how they can improve, not how smart they are. I can have student developed rubrics for success, provide exemplars, & allow students to make corrections.

@RutgersAltRoute A3: I can fine-tune my teaching practices by being the example and modeling a growth mindset. I ask students for feedback on how I did teaching a lesson, make mistakes & learn from it rather than giving up, & show them that I set goals for myself.
#TeacherED#GrowthMindset
@RutgersAltRoute A4: One of the things I liked to focus on is the word “YET” when providing feedback & remind students to remove “can’t” from their vocab. Say “I don’t know how to do this YET rather than I can’t do this”. Feedback focused on the process, not the result.

@RutgersAltRoute A2: Teachers can promote a growth mindset by praising the efforts of their students, the process their student followed to accomplish a learning task, and the students individual development rather than the actual result.

@RutgersAltRoute A1: Some challenges of mindset are giving up easily, fear of learning because they feel that they can’t do it, limiting themselves. Some opportunities are seeking out ways to challenge themselves & setting goals, rowing their effort as positive.

1st establish meaningful relationships with students, this can be achieved doing various activities. Posting rules and referencing them daily holds students accountable. Be intentional with seating arrangements, be consistent, & include a scheduled break time.

Fidgets tools are great for students with ADHD. Other strategies include allowing movement breaks (or have wobble chairs), provide positive reinforcement, specifically tailor assignments to the student, use visual aids & alternate activities like games, etc.

Teachers can help students with disabilities succeed by keeping instructions simple, don’t pressure them to be perfect, help them stay organized, reward all strides they make, have different level books & materials, have small group & centers, & rotate lessons.

I can empower students to self-advocate by helping them to identify their strengths & be aware of any weaknesses, then identify strategies to overcome their weaknesses while building on their strengths. Encourage them to ask questions & model a growth mindset.

Some of the challenges I have encountered are my lack of experience in an inclusion setting, creating activities that include all students, parent participation, and teaching compassion to students so they treat peers with respect regardless of their abilities.
@RutgersAltRoute Having weekly SEL activities is a way to show awareness of your students feelings and it opens the floor for them to share and just be transparent. This also lets them know that you support their needs.
@RutgersAltRoute A5: I think open communication and dialogue is crucial. Also, listening, active listening. Students have to not just be told they are supported, but they have to truly feel that support in order to navigate all that they are experiencing.
@RutgersAltRoute There are instances where we have to collaborate with the social worker as well and have whole class discussions with her and admin. When students see them present, they know that it’s a serious topic.
@RutgersAltRoute A3: I currently teach 5th grade and we are departmentalized. My grade level partner and I created a classroom rules and behaviors contract that students and parents had to sign. We also have daily check-ins regarding our classroom and talk about anything that we have noticed.
@RutgersAltRoute When HIB occurs in the classroom, it deprives the student of a safe learning environment. This will surely affect how they perform academically.
@RutgersAltRoute A4: I think the biggest challenge as a teacher would be recognizing and seeing that factors exist in your classroom. In the midst of teaching and the countless other responsibilities we have, sometimes things may go unnoticed.
