Sent to me by a constituent in Audubon Park who woke up to flyers at their doors from a white supremacist organization. This group refers to FL’s new hate speech law as “communist” and have anti-Semitic, racist, homophobic and transphobic views & content online. It’s disgusting.
Florida SB264 can restrict Chinese, Venezuelan, and Cuban people (and people of other targeted races, national origins, and ethnicities) from owning homes. The Fair Housing Act says it can't.
If you've faced housing discrimination, please call (305) 651-4673 to report it.
🚨 "History cannot be reversed. Against FL's discriminatory law SB264, we will immediately appeal with all our might. The fight for fairness continues. #StandAgainstSB264 ✊"
BREAKING: A federal district court denied our clients' request to block Florida's discriminatory housing law that bans many Chinese immigrants from buying a home in large parts of the state.
We're appealing this ruling.
The passage of Florida's SB 264 is a devastating blow to the civil rights of Chinese immigrants and Asian Americans alike.

Florida's Alien Land Law (#SB264) "is not just an attack on the property rights of individuals of Chinese descent," @nicholasjgee reminds us, "it is a stark reminder of the discriminatory practices of the past that we have fought so hard to overcome."

Yesterday the Florida Asian American Justice Alliance hosted a demonstration and press conference outside of the U.S. District Court of Northern Florida during the argument of Shen v. Simpson, a lawsuit challenging SB 264. #StopAAPIHate
Honored to join fellow Floridians & advocates in defense of our AAPI community as the lawsuit challenging SB264 had its first hearing today. We will keep fighting for every Floridian to have the freedom to be healthy, prosperous and safe.
