There are no state mandated middle school social studies courses- only that WA State History be offered but it is not required to be credited. As a result we moved that course to middle school.

My district doesn’t offer US1 in 8th- we teach that course in 10th. But we just touch on it enough to identify it. We spend several weeks on Reconstruction & the 2nd Founding in our 11th grade US2 course.

After attending a summer institute @ConstitutionCtr we reframed our units on Reconstruction. I do not end the unit w/ the election of 1876 and instead end w/ Williams v Mississippi (1898).
