We just tagged our second white shark of #ExpeditionNASFA. Meet Helena, a 12 foot 1 inch female caught near St Helena Island in South Carolina. We'll be sharing more about her soon, stay tuned!
#SharkScienceFriday Our #NovaScotiaExpedition confirmed that Nova Scotia’s South Shore is a white shark hotspot. We also found adult males and females together...but we didn’t see any other evidence of mating
From the science to the amazing people of Nova Scotia, everything about #NovaScotiaExpedition came together better than we could’ve imagined. We hope to continue working there in the future to try and solve the life history of white sharks in the Northwest Atlantic.
Another #NovaScotiaExpedition shark is pinging in! @GWSharkCabot is in the Gulf of Maine. He’s not on the tracker yet but we're hoping to load him soon once we fix a backend issue. @SeaWorld named him using suggestions from Nova Scotians after the explorer John Cabot.
New Partnership will allow Nantucket-based brewery @CiscoBrewers to continue focusing on bringing island vibes to New England through live music, beer, wine and local cuisine - Details Here: https://t.co/rWBQ5pIntp
So cool to see @WhiteSharkLuna open wide for us just before we released her. It’s an incredible moment we’ll never forget from this spectacular #NovaScotiaExpedition
Finally a big mature female! At 15ft long, @WhiteSharkLuna is the second biggest white shark we’ve ever tagged in the North Atlantic. She was tagged on Canada’s Thanksgiving and named after the wonderful people of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.
Just tagged and released the first mature female white shark(15ft) in @Canada#history. Happy Thanksgiving to all the Canadian people that have made this #NovaScotiaExpedition so amazing! Name come on @OCEARCH handles. Beautiful..eh!
So I fired off my first ping! But I’m still adjusting to this tracker thing and it came in as a z-ping. I’ll get it dialed in next time and make sure my fin is out of the water long enough to give ya’ll a location!
The new @OCEARCH Tracker is here! In addition to following the #sharks you know and love, you can now follow the tracks of #seals, #dolphins, #alligators, and more https://t.co/JaRlCktsaR
Now @NovaTheShark & @Jefferson_Shark are the 34th and 35th white sharks we’ve tagged as part of the North Atlantic White Shark Study we started in 2012. The study aims to solve the life history of these apex predators
