BUT THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER COOL SHARKS OUT THERE. And we discover a new species roughly every two weeks.

Dunkleosteus was the top predator 365 million years ago. It grew up to 4 m long and weighed as much as a beluga whale. It did not have teeth. Instead, the bones of its jaw formed jagged, self-sharpening razor-like edges that were perfect for cutting prey.
Prospectives! I can potentially welcome a doctoral student who shares passion for fish evolution, systematics, and biodiversity to my new lab at Tulane in Fall 2025. Pre-applications due to me by October 31. Email [email protected] or DM me for more details.

Juvenile oceanic whitetip sharks are bold, opportunistic hunters in open waters, feeding on squid and bony fish. Known for their endurance, they travel vast distances in warm, tropical seas and thrive in the pelagic zone.
hi friends!
it’s been a while since I’ve been on here but I’m back with a little life update for you:
I moved to Thailand and after working as a divemaster for many months I landed a job as a researcher for a local marine conservation organization. Things are looking up! 🦈
The most grim plankton compilation video I've made. This should only be a beautiful world of microlife. Instead it's a microplastic-polluted, horror movie. Beauty and the beast. @zeiss_micro
In an incredibly rare event, our #AndersonCabotCenter aerial survey team spotted a gray whale off the New England coast last week, a species that has been extinct in the Atlantic for more than 200 years! 😮
