🇪🇺EU integration has reshaped public attitudes: @TobiasFTober and I show in our new @BJPolS study that institutional integration has widened the education gap in EU support
📈We analyzed more than 820,000 individuals across 15 countries (1976 - 2014) and found that lower-educated citizens became less supportive as EU integration progressed in their countries.

💡Results? Support is strongest for EU policy packages that target support at the renewable energy sector, include social investment policies, are financed by increasing taxes on the rich and allocate resources between EU member states based on population size.
Germans see inherited wealth as far less deserved than self-earned wealth but they do not think such wealth should be taxed more. Indeed they do not seem to think that wealth should be taxed more whatever its origin!
