Labor’s Private Health Insurance Amendment (Modernising the Private Health Insurance Rebate) Bill 2026 AKA:

LET’S SCREW PENSIONERS OUT OF THEIR MISERLY PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE REBATE BILL was debated in Parliament yesterday.

The Bill removes the higher private health insurance rebate currently available to Australians aged 65 and over.

When it came to the vote, Labor, thanks to voters, had the numbers anyway.

But one vote genuinely surprised me.

Independent Allegra Spender @spenderallegra voted WITH the Government.

I’m particularly interested in that decision because this isn’t simply about “wealthy retirees”. The change reaches older Australians on comparatively modest incomes who have made the choice, & often considerable sacrifices, to maintain private health insurance.

And apparently that extra little bit of assistance was just too generous.

Labor spent 2020 treating Bridget McKenzie’s undeclared honorary gun-club membership as a resigning offence. Now Anthony Albanese has an undisclosed honorary membership of Marrickville Golf Club, and that club has been handed $6.05 million in taxpayer money inside his own electorate.

McKenzie’s club received $35,980 through a competitive sports-grants program she oversaw. PM&C found her failure to disclose the membership breached ministerial standards and she quit Cabinet. Labor hammered the scandal mercilessly.

Marrickville’s grant is roughly 168 times larger. It came through Labor’s $560 million invite-only MLCI scheme, where three-quarters of the money flowed to notionally Labor-held seats and 45 electorates received nothing. Marrickville was the only golf club invited.

So the precedent Labor demanded for somebody else suddenly looks remarkably disposable when the undeclared member is the Prime Minister and the cheque has another two zeros on it. $36,000 helped end McKenzie’s ministry. $6.05 million lands beside Albanese’s undisclosed membership and Labor expects Australians to accept a completely different standard.

The amount got 168 times bigger. Labor’s outrage vanished.

He's said cutting mass migration is “madness”, then argued that an Australian-born citizen costs government $85,000 over their lifetime while a single skilled migrant delivers a $415,000 benefit.

Just think about what he is saying.

He believes it is a better deal for him to import a migrant than to educate and train the next generation of Australians.

He’s telling South Australian families their children are a cost, while mass migration is a better investment for him.

That is extraordinary.

A leader who sees our children as a cost and mass migration as a revenue stream is literally selling out our future.

Malinauskas is addicted to mass migration.

He needs an intervention.

It’s one thing that Albanese is a habitual serial liar — but this time he’s gone a step further: he’s misled and lied to the Parliament.

And worse, Albanese has personally benefited from giving $6 million of taxpayers’ money to Marrickville Golf Club, because it’s been revealed that Albanese owns a property in the same street as the golf club.

Any real estate agent will confirm that properties near golf courses are more valuable. So no doubt Albanese’s property benefits from being so close to the golf club.

And here’s where it becomes interesting: local Greens councillors were planning to redevelop Marrickville golf course, cutting it back from 18 holes to just 9.

Locals opposed this plan — arguing that shrinking the course would make the club financially unviable, warning that if the club went out of business, the vacant golf course would inevitably become a target for developers seeking rezoning for future residential high-rises

And if this happened, it would have had a detrimental effect on the values of properties nearby the golf course — including Albanese’s.

So Albanese may not have been able to enjoy all the $1.6 million capital gain he’s received so far from the increasing value of this property (also driven up in recent years by unprecedented levels of excess migration) in same street as the golf course - if the golf course was replaced by high rise developments.

And as Mayor Darcy Byrne has admitted, the $6 million grant has helped secure the long-term future of the golf club — killing off the potential of high rise housing developments replacing the golf course - something from which Albanese has personally financially benefited.

So here’s what we are left with: Albanese has used $6 million of taxpayers’ money in a dodgy grants program, which makes the Liberals’ “sports rorts” look like child’s play.

And from this, Albanese has received a personal benefit — and then he’s lied, misleading Parliament to cover it all up.

It’s difficult to see how Albanese can now continue as Prime Minister.
