After 91 hrs 54 mins I finished the Race Across Scotland, 215 miles. I it nearly 2am and I could only just hold this big belt buckle in one hand. 9th and oldest female to finish. Over 50% do not finish.

Lyke Wake Race 40 miles of wet weather (Fylingdales had 113 mm rain according to BBC weather this morning). Wonderful to see old friend Gerry Orchard supporting at finish. When I ran 6 hr 33 in 1993 he ran 5 hr 31 min.
She has had a tough experience this year, crossing the line with a black eye and described this yearโs experience as one of the toughest she has ever done.

Her international pedigree showed as she went endured the Peaks, Dales, Pennines and Cheviots could throw her way. Undoubtedly, the combination of distance, exposure, personal and mental management combines to form a huge challenge for all of our athletes.

Many know Sharon Gayter as the long-time record-holder for Landโs End to John OโGroats. Here in Kirk Yetholm, she is a serial finisher of Britainโs Most Brutal race. Sharon completed the Summer Spine in '22 & '23 but hadn't finished a full Winter Spine until now.
