@NoContextBCGov On the naughty list or not, we've finished our spring session in Legislative Assembly of British Columbia and while we had hoped for better outcomes, we can still have some laughs along the way!
Today is the last day of the spring 2026 sitting! Thank you to the MLAs, staff, and media who keep #bcpoli running.
We hope this I Think You Should Leave-inspired compilation captures the funnier (and more chaotic) moments from the past months. Turbo Team, out!
Great turnout at last night’s town hall in Smithers hosting the Office of the Seniors Advocate and Public Guardian and Trustee of British Columbia with BC Association of Community Response Networks. We heard valuable presentations about the important work they do, along with thoughtful feedback and questions from attendees. Thanks to everyone who joined the conversation!
Congratulations to the award winners at 2026 Smithers Community & Business Excellence Awards which recognized outstanding businesses, organizations, entrepreneurs, and community leaders.
Although I was unable to attend this prestigious event, I would like to recognize the 19 award recipients. Thank you for being a vital part of our community, you are what helps make our community special. I would like to highlight the investment that the small business community contributes within the Bulkley Valley region, making it such a special place to live.
Thank you to the Smithers District Chamber of Commerce, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone involved in creating such a meaningful event celebrating local excellence.
Local BC Media Producers met us for lunch in Victoria this week. They have done projects in Bulkley Valley - Stikine and are currently filming Jade City - Season 8 on Highway 37.
I had the opportunity to meet with BC College of Family Physicians. They are mentoring new medical graduates and using a supportive team based approach to create residency placements in rural communities.
It was a pleasure to network with ASTTBC - Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia. Established in 1958, ASTTBC is committed to protecting British Columbians and the environment by regulating applied science and engineering technologists, technicians and technical specialists.
CBC Entertainment used your tax dollars to humiliate RCMP officers.
They hired a fake production company, flew retired and serving RCMP officers across the country, put them up in hotels, told them Prince William was coming to honour their service.
What those officers walked into was a staged ambush.
A fake video of King Charles announcing the RCMP would be dissolved played in front of them while cameras rolled.
One veteran said the production deliberately targeted officers with mental health struggles.
The National Police Federation is now demanding a federal inquiry, calling it exactly what it is: Canadian taxpayers funding the deception and public shaming of the people who spent their careers keeping this country safe.
Who approved this? Who signed the cheques? And why is anyone still waiting for answers?
A group of 26 students were able to experience some of the many career options available in mining while staying overnight on site at the KSM Project. At Minerals North, we had the privilege to hear from two of the students who attended, along school and mine staff representatives. A fantastic collaboration between School District 54, Seabridge Gold Inc., parents and students resulting in a great success!
It was exciting to have a conversation about alternative water treatment systems with McCUE, manufacturers of PANAQUA. These systems would be adaptable to more than just resource applications. I look forward to investigating further opportunities for this technology.
Bandstra Transportation Systems Ltd. is a long standing local company that has been serving Western Canada since 1955. Their presence at Minerals North showcased their support for the resource industry. Bandstra's service also extends to delivering groceries and goods throughout the Northwest and beyond.
