@sarahburnes Second Place by Rachel Cusk, and Three O'clock in the Morning by Gianrico Carofiglio were two of my recent favorites(both short but very satisfying). Also, My Life in Middlemarch by Rebecca Mead (and then I re-read Middlemarch, marveling at it all over again).
Today marks the 70th anniversary of The Night of the Murdered Poets, when beloved Yiddish writers were executed for their Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee activism. This yahrzeit, we celebrate their life and work as we reflect on this tragedy. May their memory be a blessing.
