🟣I don’t know who needs to hear this but if you’re studying Law at the @UniversityOfZim, pay extra close attention in @ProfMadhuku’s lectures - especially Introduction to Law, Constitutional Law and Jurisprudence. And don’t do it to “pass the exam”. Do it for intellectual curiosity, the ability to think independently and to gain true understanding.
Also, adopt his crisp, clear writing style. Go to the “Legal Forums” on the late nineties and early 2000s to see what I mean. For longer legal essays and for your thesis, look at how he structures the books he writes, especially the Introduction to Law and Labour Law ones.
The conceptual framework he will give you will take you everywhere you need to go in the world - practice, academia, international tribunals, politics - everywhere.
And it’s not the positive law that’s critical - anyone can find that on @Google. It’s the ability to think like a lawyer, weave complex threads together to mount an argument and solve problems even when the law changes. Once you learn that skill, it will never go away. You’ll probably get a first anyway but that’s the smallest of the intellectual benefits. (You’ll even beat him in court sometimes, jokes.)
If you’re interested in postgraduate study in law especially at OxBridge or a career in academia - ask him for guidance on the application and how to excel once you arrive.
Thank me later.
