In 2005, Oneida shut the flatware factory in Sherrill, New York.
A town that had made silverware for MORE THAN 100 YEARS was supposed to be finished.
Two men refused to let that happen.
Their names are Matt Roberts and Greg Owens.
Roberts had managed that factory. Owens was another former Oneida manufacturing manager. When the company ended U.S. production, they bought the plant and the equipment and reopened it the NEXT DAY as Sherrill Manufacturing.
They did not have a giant rescue fund.
They did not have a Hollywood ending waiting.
They had a building, some machines, and a workforce that knew how to make forks, knives, and spoons.
At first they kept making product for Oneida.
Then Oneida pulled the remaining American work and sent it overseas.
That should have been the end.
It wasnât.
They took government flatware contracts to keep the lights on. In 2010 they filed Chapter 11. They sold unused equipment. They sold space they could no longer fill. They leased back only the part of the factory they could still run.
They came out of bankruptcy in 2013.
Then they did the thing that saved the company.
They built their own brand: Liberty Tabletop.
They sold 18/10 stainless flatware straight to customers who wanted tableware MADE IN THE UNITED STATES.
Not through a department store that could drop them overnight.
Direct.
Today Liberty Tabletop is the only company still manufacturing stainless steel flatware in America.
Same town.
Same trade.
U.S. steel.
About 70 jobs.
They did not bring back 2,000 workers. Nobody did.
What they saved was the last line.
If you want American-made forks and spoons, this is the factory that still makes them.
Support Liberty Tabletop.
THIS is what keeping manufacturing in America actually looks like. đșđž
If any other auto company shipped what Tesla just put in my Cyberbeast this morning, it would be a MAJOR launch event, like with a stage set up, a 40-minute presentation with people flying in around the world to see how amazing this technology is.
Tesla on the other hand just sent it to my truck overnight with an over-the-air software update.
I downloaded FSD (Supervised) v14.3.8 this morning and made Grok do all of this while my Cyberbeast drove itself.
Watch the video, if you think Iâm lying.
I had Grok:
1/ add a destination
2/ add a second stop
3/ start FSD (just had to press a button)
4/ turn my AC to 68
5/ turn the seat coolers on medium
6/ then change the seat cooler to high
7/ play a song
8/ change to a different song
9/ open the glovebox (had to enter my pin)
10/ close the glovebox
11/ tell me the weather
12/ play Elonâs song
13/ change my destination to San Francisco mid-drive
14/ pick a Supercharger bc I was almost out of battery
ALL with my hands and feet off the steering wheel and pedalsâŠ
Hereâs exactly how it went.
I said hey Grok, take me to the Pruneridge Golf Club closest to me, then the Starbucks near there.
It set both.
I started FSD with a press of a button.
Then I just kept talking to it.
It was kind of hot in my Cybertruck, so I asked Grok to set the temperature to 68 and cool.
Done.
Then I said put the seat coolers on medium⊠it turned it on.
Then I said change the seat coolers to high⊠it bumped it up.
I said to play a song from Future⊠it put a song on Spotify that wasnât what I was looking for.
So I changed it.
I said to play a song from Lil Baby.
That was the one.
Then I asked Grok to open my glovebox.
It wouldnât do it until I put my PIN in on the screen, which I actually respect for safety.
I typed in my PIN⊠it opened it.
Then I said close the glovebox⊠it closed.
I asked what the weather was⊠it said it was sunny in Santa Clara, high 85, low 64.
Then I said play Donât Doubt ur Vibe, I think thatâs Elon⊠it pulled up Donât Doubt ur Vibe by Elon âEDMâ Musk on Spotify.
Halfway there I changed my mind on where I wanted to go.
I said actually take me to San Francisco first and that I might have to stop at a Supercharger bc Iâm almost out of battery.
Grok looked at my truck sitting at 14% battery life with 38 miles of range.
And knowing San Francisco is 39 miles away it found a Tesla supercharger for me to charge along the way.
I said thanks Grok.
A Tesla is starting to feel like an AI on wheels that can drive, listen, understand what I want, control the cabin, change my plans, and solve problems for me in real time⊠almost like another person is there with me, except that intelligence is embodied in the car itself.
And the wildest part is I didnât buy anything new!
I went to sleep with one Cyberbeast and woke up with a more capable one.
Thatâs why I think people still underestimate what happens when Tesla combines FSD, Grok, its vehicles, and over-the-air software into one system.
That car sitting in your driveway doesnât stay the same car.
It keeps gaining new abilities.
It keeps getting smarter.
And often, you literally wake up to a major release that changes what the car can do.
Any other automaker would have put this on a stage.
Tesla shipped it while I was sleeping.
Mind blownâŠ
Katherine Boyle just named Elon Musk's greatest contribution to America, and it isn't sitting on a launchpad.
Boyle, General Partner at a16z: "I think that Elon's most important contribution to this country is training two generations of engineers ⊠on how to work with their hands again."
For a decade, America's sharpest technical minds optimized ad clicks and shipped messaging apps. Software consumed ambition.
The physical world became something you abstracted into an API, not something you touched. Building real things became what you did if you couldn't code.
Elon didn't reverse that with inspiration. He reversed it by building companies where you either understood manufacturing or you failed.
SpaceX and Tesla forced engineers to learn how metal fractures, how tolerances cascade, how one physical iteration costs months and millions. No hotfix. No rollback. Physics doesn't negotiate.
Boyle: "Training two generations of engineers."
The product was never the cars. It was the people.
Look at who's founding America's hard-tech companies now. The common thread isn't Stanford or MIT. It's time on a factory floor at SpaceX or Tesla.
They learned to weld. They learned that "impossible" means unsolved engineering, not violated physics. They learned that failure in the physical world compounds, because nothing reverts.
Elon didn't just build companies. He rebuilt industrial knowledge that had been decaying for thirty years while the country's best minds chased digital scale.
He made atoms matter again. Made manufacturing the hardest problem worth solving. Made physical engineering prestigious in a way it hadn't been since humans walked on the moon.
Boyle: "Work with their hands again."
Five words that sound quaint. They describe the moment America started building again.
The blueprints for the Saturn V still exist. No one can build one from them.
Knowledge that lives in hands doesn't survive on paper. It dies in a single generation of neglect, and no archive brings it back. That is how a civilization loses the ability to make things while still holding every document that explains how.
America was one generation from that. It got the generation back instead.
The best technical talent no longer asks which app to build. It asks what should exist that doesn't. From engagement metrics to launch cadence. From scaling users to scaling factories.
That shift outlives every vehicle and spacecraft he delivered. Products obsolesce. Engineers who know how to make things do not.
We stopped coding the future. We started machining it, welding it, breaking it until physics signs off.
Those engineers are training the next wave now. The School of Elon doesn't need Elon anymore. It's self-sustaining, spreading through a generation that learned the higher calling is building real things.
That isn't a business achievement. It's a civilization remembering how to make things.
You can copy a design. You can't copy a generation that knows how to build one.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: âI know you're flustered now, and it isâŠâ
CNNâs Dana Bash: âI'm not flustered at all.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: âDo you see your job as ending vaccine hesitancy, or do you see your job as telling the truth to the American people?â
Dana Bash: âI see my job as telling the truth. And the truth is that there is study after study after study. It's one of the most studied things out there in science.â
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: âYou're repeating it like a parrot. You're repeating it like a parrot.â
âI have actually read the science.â
âLet's you and I come back here and debate the science.â
Dana Bash: âI'm not debating this with you.â
Robert F. Kennedy: âOf course you won't. All you know how to do is repeat things that people told you and say, trust the experts.â
âThat's what you did during COVID. Now we know that Anthony Fauci, who was the expert, was lying about everything, about masks, about the social distancing, about natural immunity, about the transmission from the vaccine, about the source of COVID.â
â[Fauci] was lying, and you were punishing people for not trusting the experts. And now you're rolling out the experts again to talk about something that you have no personal knowledge of.â
âYour job is to tell the truth to the American public.â

Just this week Megan Rapinoe went on The View and claimed that keeping men out of womenâs sports is somehow an âaffront to women everywhere.â
Let that sink in.
Excluding biological males from womenâs competitions is now disrespectful to women.
The American people are done with this insanity.
Sophie Cunningham stood up this week and the internet exploded in support.
Caitlin Clark keeps stacking records and the arenas keep selling out.
Nobody is lining up for a Rapinoe jersey â especially not mothers who want actual role models for their daughters.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup was the largest sporting event in the history of the world, shattering previous attendance record by double digits. America- we got it done, ZERO major security incidents across our nation while we hosted the equivalent of 78 super bowls in 38 days, along with 40 base camps, endless fan zones, and celebrations in nearly every state.
President Trump promised his administration would deliver the most safe, secure, and fun environment for FIFA. He started by establishing the White
House FIFA Task Force some 16 months ago, and we got right to work.
This FBI led the charge dedicating nearly 5,000 personnel to the effort out of HQ, field, and international offices - across 16 host cities. And, none of what we accomplished is possible without our federal, state and local partners who all put in the same relentless effort. Itâs the largest resource dedication the FBI has EVER made for a any event.
This FBI stood up a Joint Ops Center, International Police Coordination Center, Intelligence Coordination Center, and more - all from scratch- to collect and share intel in live time.
We established the first ever counter-UAS drone school, training members of law enforcement from across the country for the World Cup- we seized over 700 drones near FIFA airspace.
Whether it was UFC 250, SAIL 250, State Fair 250 or so many other events happening simultaneously- we DELIVERED the safest and most secure World Cup in history.
President Trump's leadership set the course, he led the way, and this FBI and our partners rose to the challenge- thanks to all our partners, @FIFA@DHSgov@WHTaskForceFIFA and their Director Andrew Giuliani.
@NelsonMG27@theberneese And a great well deserved win, which could be celebrated in grace along the passing of the baton, brings this kind of emotion in you. Sad.
Should the rest of the world say Spain can only win against 10 players?
