@dennyhamlin@bobpockrass@grok The answer is NASCAR teams lost a total of $156,848,180 from 2020 through 2024 using the financial data provided above.
To derive this, for each year I setup a Linear Programming problem to solve for the number of charters per team for each year. With this we can compute totals!
@dennyhamlin@bobpockrass@grok For 2023/24, teams lost $114,374,133! The graphic shows how I got the numbers. TL;DR, I set up a Linear Programming problem for each year, and for 23/24 I was able to find a solution to estimate the # of charters per team and match NASCAR's numbers. @jareddallen@dennyhamlin
@bobpockrass This is quite the abstraction! Trying to figure out why there are only 12-teams reported. But when you look at the number of teams from 2020 to 2024 it goes from 19 to 15. Adding in the twist that Team N is not the same from year, it adds in another level of abstraction.
@BubbaWallace Drove from 34th / tail end of the longest line to 17th up until that last corner on the last lap. It was fun watching the in car camera on Max as you drove through the field. 8th most points in a road course is a good haul!
@keselowski@dennyhamlin@AR_Analytics Decided to play with some lap times while listening to @jeff_gluck and @Jordan_Bianchi on @DirtyMoMedia.
Kind of annoying how NASCAR keeps their data in the results section where it is not easily parsed from the website table. Little python-foo to get the data I needed.
@keselowski When looking at a similar lap sequence for the drivers involved and @dennyhamlin as a reference point, you can see the significant increase in laptime in the last 20 laps. Especially if you benchmark it against another ~85 lap run previously in the race. @AR_Analytics
@AR_Analytics@jeff_gluck@KyleLarsonRacin@dennyhamlin@CG1751 Kyle Larson was consistently faster than the top 10 in the last 100 laps! His average lap time is 0.04+ seconds faster than the others and overall he was just consistent looking at the estimated distributions.
During Pocono Bootie radio'd he could see what @BubbaWallace was dealing with in regards to the car. What in the SMT data is he looking at? As a data science/math nerd, how much machine learning is used with SMT data? #deardenny@dennyhamlin@jareddallen
