Clerk sessions are synced across subdomains by default. It's usually great, but we made a foundational mistake in our approach: We forgot to namespace our cookies.
So, if you tried to run two apps on a single domain (e.g. staging and prod), cookies would collide and auth would fail 😬
Since our cookie parsing utilities are spread across dozens of SDK versions, this left us with quite a challenge: How do we change the cookie names of 6,000+ active prod apps who might be relying on the old names?
Well, we can't. But with enough finesse, we *can* start setting both non-namespaced AND namespaced cookies, to unlock developers who need this functionality.
That's what this launch does – all apps can now upgrade their SDKs, and multiple apps on a single domain will just work.
Lot of truth to the movie the “yes man” especially for the person who is stuck in life. They need to test the waters and take some action to see what sticks!
