🚨 Denver, wake up! Mayor @mikejohnstonco blew $88.5 million of taxpayer money on the former Denver Post building. That’s a whopping 303,733 square feet (which is mostly VACANT) at about $291 per square foot; way above the Denver average of around $140 per square foot for office space (per https://t.co/91ek7BG1Ql). Meanwhile, buildings around downtown are selling for as little as $3 million or less in distressed sales.

The only thing that made this deal remotely sensible? A $650,000/month ($7.8 million/year) in rent from a Denver Post affiliate. But guess what? They stopped paying in August, leaving us holding the bag for millions in unpaid rent. Johnston tried to sweep this under the rug, but shoutout to @CBSNewsColorado for exposing the truth.
