4 Lies you've been told about AI and writing:
Lie #1: AI will replace writers
Lie #2: AI will win because it's faster
Lie #3: Most people can't tell when writing is AI
Lie #4: Nobody will pay writers anymore
These lies misrepresent what writers do.
People think discipline is:
- white-knuckling your way through
- forcing yourself into a flow state
- doing more than the next guy
But real discipline:
- requires patience
- slow, deliberate practice
- showing up every single day
It's not sexy but it works.
Too many writers try to impress readers the wrong way.
We don't care about fancy words or hyper-detailed worldbuilding or obscure influences.
Tell us something that's real and means something.
@Olivia0945 Focus is power. If you scatter your attention and energy across too many interests, you won’t master any. Pick one purpose. Pursue it. Get good rest. Pursue it again.
Note to self:
When you sit down to write, that thing that pops into your head,
you know that thing that absolutely needs to be taken care of now?
It can wait.
Thank you, have a nice day.
@ScaleSolo_OS Momentum is fragile. If someone clicks on your profile and sees you haven’t posted for a while, even if it’s only a couple days, they assume you won’t be valuable to them and they move on
@TheBookNewb I think so too. The dopamine rush we get from starting something new fades so people want results asap. But the results that matter are never immediate. They happen quietly over time.

Writing tip from Lisa Cron's Story Genius:
Stop telling stories where "this happened and then that happened and another thing happened."
Your story will drag and bore everyone.
Go from "and then" to "Yes, BUT'' or "No, AND"
Every scene ends with your characters winning but facing unforeseen consequences or losing and things getting worse.
@thedanielaros We focus so much on getting things done, we don’t let life happen to us. It’s a beautiful thing, when you slow down and let it wash over you.
